Far From the Tree
2017 ‧ Documentary (NR) ‧ 93 mins

Following families that are meeting extraordinary challenges through love, empathy, and understanding, this life-affirming documentary encourages us to cherish loved ones for all they are, not who they might have been. Based on Andrew Solomon's award-winning, critically acclaimed, New York Times bestselling non-fiction book "Far From the Tree: Parents, Children and the Search for Identity."

Fair warning: By the end of "Far From the Tree," tears will be shed, and for all the best reasons.

Ann Hornada, Washington Post

Leave No Trace
PG 2018  119 mins

A father and daughter live a perfect but mysterious existence in Forest Park, a beautiful nature reserve near Portland, OR, rarely making contact with the world. But when a small mistake tips them off to authorities, they are sent on an increasingly erratic journey in search of a place to call their own.
Critics Concensus:  Leave No Trace takes an effectively low-key approach to a potentially sensationalistic story -- and further benefits from brilliant work by Ben Foster and Thomasin McKenzie.

In this documentary, excerpts from Duncan's speeches, essays and autobiography are interwoven with rare archival photographs, historic film footage and re-creations of twelve of Duncan's dances to provide a balanced and engaging portrait of one of this century's most outspoken and intriguing personalities. The first American performing artist to gain international acclaim, she dared to use her choreography to call people to arms, to express the plight of repressed workers and agitate for the freedom of women.
