Happy new year! I realize we here at OGT went a little silent in December. As we worked to figure out what our operations looked like on two screens, we decided to dial back on requests for volunteers. Now that we have hit a rhythm, we're ready to bring you volunteers back in!
We have two new films opening (1917 and Just Mercy), with a guest speaker for one screening; on top of that, we're having our first showing of our new Miyazaki Monday series, with two screenings on MLK Day. We think all of this will bring in some new audiences, so we could use your support in getting them acquainted with OGT.
As a reminder from our volunteer training back in October, on-site shifts are moving from short shifts before a film to one-hour long shifts. You will come in at the beginning of your shift, be stationed in the Pop-up until the showtime there begins. Then you will move into the inner lobby to be stationed there until that showtime begins. Once the film there begins, your shift will be over.
Also as a reminder from our volunteer training, as shifts no longer align with showtimes and require you to be on-duty until after the showtime starts, we have a new system of rewards (i.e. no free admission after the shift). Every Wednesday, I will look at the sign-in log from the prior week, I will credit you hours in our system, and they can be cashed in for rewards. After this week, each email will start with your accumulated hours. Please look here to see the cost of various rewards. Hour counts next week will include all hours volunteered since the October 24 volunteer meeting when we announced this change.
