SALSA PARTIES ARE BACK!

The Brooklyn Museum brings back in-person dance. Tonight, celebrate the art of salsa with the first of a monthly series featuring social dancing and performances by the Balmir Dance Society. Start things off with a class led by professional dancers at 6pm, then put those moves to work with live music, plus performances by Brooklyn’s best Latin dance teams. Free, advance registration is required.

ICE THEATRE OF NEW YORK

This troupe's mission is to advance dance on ice as a performance art. See skating in a whole new way as the ITNY continues fall pop up performances. Tonight and tomorrow at 5pm you can find skater-dancers at The Rink at Rockefeller Center. Neighborhood rink shows will follow, as will lunchtime pop up concerts at The Rink at Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park.

THE RETURN OF WOLLMAN RINK

Although the temperatures suggest otherwise, it is coming into skating season in NYC. This Sunday marks the grand reopening of Wollman Rink NYC, which has a new operator for its ridiculously prime location in Central Park. If you come for the opening ceremony (tickets will be available starting tomorrow at 10am) you can get free tickets for Sunday, which will also feature refreshments, on-ice performances, and surprise musical acts.

A NEARLY FLAWLESS DIAMOND

Be among the first members of the public to see “Okavango Blue,” a rare and nearly flawless 20-carat blue diamond. The centerpiece of a new display of diamonds from Botswana, it's now on view in the revamped Allison and Roberto Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals at the American Museum of Natural History. You can learn more about the region and the science behind diamonds. Or you can just go be dazzled.

MODERN WORLDS

Uptown's exquisite Neue Galerie opens all its rooms this week for the first time since the start of the pandemic. Newly on view is Modern Worlds: Austrian and German Art, 1890–1940, which shows off several favorite pieces from the museum's permanent collection. Look for major fine art works joined by standouts from the realm of design.

SWAN LAKE ROCK OPERA

Classical and modern music come together in this decadent take on the Tchaikovsky ballet. Money, love, and titles form the motifs of a search by Crown Prince Siegfried (aka Ziggy) for the ideal bride. Swan Lake Rock Opera is now playing at the Actors Temple Theatre every Thursday through December.

CHALET POP UP

Back by popular demand, Gerber Group’s Mr. Purple’s Veuve Clicquot Winter Chalet pop-up is back on the Lower East Side. Starting next week, guests can reserve a space at a funky après-ski lodge in the sky, complete with fur-lined seating and a custom Veuve Clicquot champagne bar. The limited-time seasonal menu includes bites like short rib empanadas and savory and sweet fondues.

SPAIN'S GREAT MATCH

The U.S.'s largest and liveliest celebration of Spanish wines, spirits, and food takes place on Monday. José Andrés’ Mercado Little Spain in Hudson Yards does the hosting. Walk-around tastings are joined by cooking demos, seminars, and head-to-head sommelier challenges with food and wine pairings guests get to sample. Over 300 wines will be poured and there's the chance to win a trip for two to Spain.
