ISD 88 Foundation Board
..................................................
Letter form the board chair:
Welcome to the second edition of the ISD 88 Foundation newsletter!  Lots of fantastic news happening within our school district, as well as activities driving awareness, excitement, and opportunity for the students and staff who call ISD 88 home.  Some highlights can be found in this newsletter.

For those that don't know me, I am a lifelong New Ulm resident and  graduate of NUHS.  I married my high school sweetheart, Jane, and for us it was an easy decision to remain in New Ulm.  Its been a great place to raise our family, own a small business, and easy to be actively involved.  When the opportunity was presented to help start a foundation to support my alma mater, I was excited and ready to assist. The Foundation is a great place to give back to all of those that have helped us find our way and a chance to enhance current students' educational opportunities.

As a business owner it is very easy to see the value a strong school system brings to New Ulm. Our business community needs a quality work force. Investing in our students and supporting our school system is  worthwhile for all local businesses. We need educated and qualified employees, and the Foundation's recent funding of STEM programming will assist with that. We also hope current students will become our future business leaders.

It is an honor and a privilege to be able to give back and help our students. Please join the Foundation in investing in the future for our students and our community, and thank you for your interest in NU Public Schools and the ISD 88 Foundation.  Watch you inbox for newsletters a few times a year, and be sure to check out our website and Facebook page for upcoming events and opportunities.

Hope you stay connected!

Sincerely,
Tim Knaak

Eagles Extravaganza 2015 - What a Success!

..................................................

The 2015 Eagles Extravaganza was a smashing success - over 350 people attended and we raised over $30,000!  A big thanks to all that attended and donated towards the event.  The response we received from the event was how FUN it was, so if you missed it, plan on attending next year - April 1, 2016 at the Event Center.

Pictured above are some of our great alumni who gamely participated in our program. Beth Sletta & John Gag, Class of 1982 and Ted Marti, Class of 1968.  Each of them wears a variety of hats in our community, figuratively (and literally that evening) - alumni, parent, teacher, local business owner...

Current students were a big part of what made the event so successful. From the performances by the Pops Choir, Jazz Band, and Payne Street Singers to the Cheerleaders leading the enthusiastic crowd in the school song.  From the Robotics Team demonstrating their robot to student volunteers serving the delicious meal.  Quite the team effort and Eagle Pride at it's best!

Students will benefit from the evening with funds raised going towards STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) programming for the middle school.  A hot educational topic right now, and our district is working on making STEM available to all students.  Curriculum is already in place for the elementary and high school students, and the Foundation is excited to fund the middle school program with Eagles Extravaganza proceeds.

Thank you to our planning committee!

Hope to see you next year!
