Update from the Covid Committee
The Club's COVID committee has met again to review whether we should continue to keep the club closed .
Whilst some sailing clubs are allowing cruising, this is at their members own risk with no safety boat cover provided .
Our Rules and Standard Operating Procedures do not allow sailing without safety cover, and this together with the current government guidance for Tier Four means that we do not feel it is appropriate to open the club at the present time.
Government Rules do not permit any organised adult sport - for example Racing - to take place.
We will continue to monitor developments and update you.

A Thank You from ITCA
Despite the many closures during 2020, Papercourt were able to operate for much of the year, in a safe and compliant manner. We were delighted to receive the following email, from the International Topper Class Association, after staging a Topper Open at very short notice when another club pulled out, and acknowledging the Club's efforts to maintain training this year:
"This year has not been the year we expected and it has been particularly hard on the Topper class that have had squads, traveller series and a Worlds in Garda cancelled. It has also led to many sailors transitioning out of the class earlier than normal.
However once the restrictions were relaxed three clubs went out of their way (within the rules) to get sailing restarted, encouraged Topper sailors with extra unplanned activities and were the only member run clubs in L&SE that ran a Topper Open in the Autumn.
ITCA would like to recognise what Island Barn, Papercourt and Shoreham have done for the Topper class this year and into the New Year. I have a plaque (see photo) for each club “On behalf of our Topper Sailors, thank you for your support in unprecedented times 2020-21”
Time is Running Out
The 20% discount for early settlement of your subscription expires in the middle of January. The bigger discount was agreed by the committee to acknowledge the difficult past year, and our members' continued support of the club.
Did you know?
All our rubbish is sorted by the waste contractors at the depot into recyclables and non recyclables. Your Main Committee are also considering other ways in which we can 'green' the club going forward. If you have any ideas, please contact Jeremy Sumeray and let him know. firstname.lastname@example.org
Some Great Photos around the Club (worth turning images on to see)
These photos were taken earlier in the year by a local visitor to our site showing some of the amazing variety of wildlife our grounds support - photo credit Ben Dyer
And these photos were taken earlier this week - how the cygnets have grown!
