LIVE! at Port Hope United

“Dazzling,” “haunting and beautiful,” “a Category Five creative hurricane!” are how reviewers describe internationally acclaimed spoken word poet Shane Koyczan.

Koyczan will make a Port Hope stop in his 2022 tour schedule on July 21, hosted by Green Wood Coalition at Port Hope United Church. “It’s a rare opportunity, and it's going to be a rollercoaster ride!” says Green Wood Coalition Executive Director David Sheffield.

Koyczan's poetry touches on every facet of the human experience. His collaboration with TED Education to create an anti-bullying classroom tool earned him praise from teachers and mental health experts. Performing to sold-out audiences around the world, from Olympic Opening Ceremonies to theaters and music and literary festivals, he will be joined by his band, The Short Story Long.

Chime In at LAUNCH! Cultivate Festival returned this past weekend to Memorial Park in Port Hope after two years away. Green Wood Coalition was there with a collective art project, called 'Chime In', demonstrating how art brings healing to a community. John Hensgens and his young friends enjoy the chimes people created throughout the day, laden with messages of hope and belonging.
Build it and they will come!
Join our neighbourhood food sharing project by hosting a community herb box on your property. All you need is a spot along an active sidewalk, sunshine and an ever-filled watering can. The box generates local conversation as neighbours to stop by and help themselves to fresh herbs. You can also sponsor a box somewhere else or help us to build them.
