Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

This training offers a basic understanding of how CBT strategies can support neuroplasticity and healing from various mental health disorders. ABC's of MAT: Introduction to Medication-Assisted Treatment

In this session, we will be discussing the overall application of MAT and the diagnostic criteria for Opioid Use Disorder, different types of FDA-approved medication, and risks vs. benefits of each, which includes Methadone, Buprenorphine (Suboxone) and Naltrexone (Vivitrol). We will also be going over the importance of a collaborative approach to treatment engagement, including the medical approach to treatment and the clinical approach to treatment.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based practice developed to increase people’s motivation to change through collaborative conversations in an environment of compassion and empathy. The primary objective of this training series is to teach individuals the technical and relational skills of MI within the framework of the latest 3rd edition of William R. Miller and Stephen Rollnicks’; Motivational Interviewing; Helping People Change. Participants will obtain general knowledge in the four processes of MI; engaging, evoking, focusing, and planning. Upon completion, participants will have basic proficiencies in the following core skills: open-ended questions, affirmations, empathic reflections, and summaries.

Suicide Prevention for Veterans
APRIL 2, 2021 | 1:00 – 3:15 pm
In 2018, 211 Ohio veterans died by suicide. In 2019, suicide prevention experts and stakeholders from all over the state of Ohio, gathered to produce the State Suicide Prevention Plan which included evidence-based strategies for preventing suicides for a range of populations including veterans. The purpose of this training is to provide frontline staff with the tools needed to assess and manage suicide risk in veterans. Attendees will become familiar with military culture and the impact of that culture on veterans, identify brief suicide screening and assessment strategies, gain the ability to recognize risk factors, protective factors, warnings signs, and suicide precipitants and utilize these constructs in responding to callers in suicidal crisis.
