ICYMI: A 2019 Sports in Space™ Retrospective
<<First Name>>,
Happy New Decade! We hope everyone had a safe and peaceful holiday season, and that you're off to a fresh start in the new decade. The SGF team can't wait to share all of the exciting new milestones we have planned for 2020, but first we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the developments we witnessed in 2019.
So in case your missed them, here are some of our highlights from this past year...

FROM THE SWEET SIXTEEN
TO FIVE SEMI-FINALISTS
Our Equal Space Challenge to bring the first-ever original space game to life made some incredible strides this past year.
First: the top 16 original space games were chosen from among hundreds of entries received during the general submissions process.
Then: the field was further narrowed down in a vote by you, our fans, to the 5 Semi-Finalists:
Shooting Star (inspired by Quidditch!)
Inno (trampolines and velcro, anyone?)
Space Dodgeball (a micro-gravity twist on a classic)
Spaceball (magnets make this one tricky)
Zero Gordian (AKA the Knottiest Game in the Universe).
NEXT UP: 3D Sport Simulations
In order for the Equal Space Council Selection Committee to determine the Finalist games, the SGF creative team will be using our proprietary Mixed Reality application to simulate each original game. Keep an eye out for some sneak peeks of these simulations coming soon...

We visited Ray Romer Middle School for their annual Career Day to talk about sports in space! The students were incredibly excited to learn about how games work in microgravity, and are eager to have us back again for more.
Plus, we began working with the educational team at the Space Foundation Discovery Center to develop and produce our curriculum for interactive STEM edutainment (more on this soon!).
Another year at the International Space Station Research & Development Conference -- this time to discuss our mission to nominate the ISS for a Nobel Peace Prize. February 1, 2020 is the deadline for nominations!
We met with industry leaders at the International Aeronautical Congress and SATELLITE Show in DC, as we begin laying the groundwork for the new playing fields of space, policy for sports in Space, and expanding our Equal Space Council.
Linda was honored as the surprise guest at the Society of Broadcast Engineers Annual Holiday Party, where she discussed Sports in Space™ -- that is, Equal Space™ -- played by Astroletes®.
SGF now boasts a total of THREE Sports Broadcasting Hall of Famers! Our advisor Jerry Gepner joined Mike Pearl and Linda as an official inductee -- watch him accept this honor in style!
And while we're in the process of launching into space, we're also expanding our terrestrial reach! Our SpaceCaster & Astrolete Van Koo will be bringing SGF's global presence to London this year.

2019 was a wonderful year for us as an organization, and we're looking forward to showing you what we have in store for 2020...
As always, never forget that the core mission of Space Games Federation is Equal Space -- there's a place in space for everyone, including and especially YOU, our future astroletes, coaches, scientists, and fans!
See you Out There,
Linda Rheinstein, Founder
