Welcome to our second newsletter. If you didn't receive our first, you can see it here. Over the last month we've been busy collating the responses to our surveys - over 350 people told us what they love about the Pump Room Gardens and what they think could make them even better, and we'll be sharing some of the key findings with you shortly.

The history of bandstands

Paul Rabbitts, a leading UK expert on bandstands, is speaking in Leamington this month about the history of bandstands; their importance; positions in parks and gardens; their decline after World War Two and now their welcome renaissance. He has written two books on the subject, both of which mention the bandstand in the Pump Room Gardens.

Paul freely admits to being a bandstand geek! You can find out more about his enthusiasm for the subject on his website.

Drainage in the Pump Room Gardens

A preliminary survey of the drains that criss-cross the Pump Room Gardens has suggested they are extensively blocked. High pressure water jets failed to dislodge tightly packed debris inside. This is a key issue we'd look to address as part of the restoration project.
Draft restoration plans to be exhibited

An exhibition of the draft proposals for the Pump Room Gardens restoration project will be held in late March or early April and we'll be actively seeking feedback from members of the public. Exact dates and venues for this will be confirmed soon - keep an eye on our website, Twitter page and future newsletters for more details.
