OAK Receives Support from REI
The Outdoors Alliance for Kids (OAK) is honored to receive support from one of its founding steering committee members, REI. With a generous grant of $30,000, REI is ensuring OAK can continue to be an effective national advocate for equitable and readily available opportunities for children, youth and families to get outdoors.

Every Kid in a Park
OAK members are part of a broad and diverse network of organizations advancing the Every Kid in a Park initiative, which is continuing to gain momentum across the country, providing free access to federal lands and waters for fourth graders and their families.

Even though school is out, fourth graders are continuing to take advantage of their Every Kid in a Park passes, thanks to OAK members! This month, Wilderness Inquiry hosted several outings engaging over 300 fourth graders in Minnesota.

Let's Move! Outside: Play, Learn, Serve, Work
The Let's Move! Outside initiative is well on its way to reaching the goal of hosting summits in 50 cities across the country, bringing together partners to provide opportunities to inspire lifelong stewardship of public lands. Raleigh, NC and Louisville, KY held events in July, while Omaha, NE and Seattle, WA will be hosting events August 3rd and 8th respectively. OAK members are strongly encouraged to get involved locally. RSVP here for more information and to get involved in a participating Y near you!

Latino Conservation Week
Latino Conservation Week, an initiative of Hispanic Access Foundation, celebrates the Latino community's passion for enjoying and protecting our nation's public lands. The third annual Latino Conservation Week was July 16-24, 2016, and featured more than 100 events nationwide!

Welcome to Kalamazoo Nature Center!
A warm welcome to OAK's newest member, the Kalamazoo Nature Center! The KNC's mission is to inspire people to care for the environment by providing experiences that lead them to understand their connection to the natural environment. Their programs include environmental education for youth and families in urban areas, with a focus on assisting families and children to lead healthier and more active lifestyles and creating greater environmental awareness.
