OAK Welcomes New Steering Committee Members
The Outdoors Alliance for Kids is honored to welcome Linda Rhoads of the Alliance for Childhood and José González of Latino Outdoors to our steering committee! Linda and José each bring a new, fresh and welcome perspective to this growing national partnership to connect children, youth and families with the outdoors.

Linda Rhoads, Executive Director of the Alliance for Childhood, brings an early childhood perspective to OAK's leadership. The Alliance for Childhood promotes policies and practices that support children's healthy development, love of learning, and joy in living.

Latino Outdoors Founder José González is working to create a national community of Latino leaders in conservation and outdoor education. José recently made Grist's 50 people to watch in 2016 - learn more!

Seven Cities to Connect Children with Nature
OAK is proud to partner with the National League of Cities, Children & Nature Network, and Wilderness Inquiry as part of the Cities Connecting Children to Nature (CCCN) initiative, which helps city leaders and their partners develop and expand strategies to connect young people with nature.

The CCCN partners have selected seven cities for the planning phase of the this three-year initiative. Saint Paul, MN; Madison, WI; Grand Rapids, MI; Providence, RI; Louisville, KY; Austin, TX; and San Francisco, CA will receive technical assistance from the CCCN partners for a planning process and development of implementation plans.

Every Kid in a Park: San Gabriels
Sierra Club and Day One, a community-based public health organization, are connecting fourth graders to nature in Los Angeles as part of President Obama's Every Kid in a Park initiative! Read more.
