OAK Week 2015 featuring launch of Every Kid in a Park initiative

OAK's annual gathering is just around the corner! We are excited to welcome everyone to DC for OAK Week, September 14 - 16. OAK Week will feature a Welcome Reception, an Every Kid in a Park Youth Event, OAK’s Annual Member Meeting and an Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill.

“A Day in the Park - OAK Every Kid in a Park Youth Event” will celebrate President Obama’s Every Kid in a Park initiative to provide the opportunity for every fourth grader across the nation to experience our public lands and waters for free. A Day in the Park will be the signature event for youth during OAK Week, and will engage over 100 local fourth grade students who will have the opportunity to experience the beauty of DC’s Rock Creek Park through a nature hike and several activity stations. The fourth grade students will also receive their Every Kid in a Park pass at the event. We will be joined by NPS Director Jonathan Jarvis and other dignitaries for this special launch event.

We hope you can join us for OAK Week 2015! If you plan to attend but have not yet RSVP'd, please do so now.

UC Berkeley School of Natural Resources is working to connect under-served youth with parks and other outside spaces through their new Education Outreach initiative.
