CSA Season 2016
It's time to sign up for a CSA share (community supported agriculture), where you pay up front to get weekly shares of fresh, local produce from some of the best farmers in the area. Most farms allow the sum to be broken into several payments; some farmers offer deliveries to childcare centers. Another exciting new offering in La Plata County this year is a wholesale preschool CSA model, with less variety of produce, more quantity of each, focusing on produce that kids love and centers can most easily prepare.

Check out our La Plata County CSA Share Funding opportunity to get 20% off your CSA share (below) and see our list of  La Plata County CSAs and their details. Make sure to keep your ears open: there may be a farmer just down the road from you that would be excited to offer your childcare center a CSA arrangement. Not in La Plata County? Ask around for information about CSAs in your area.

Lets get our kids eating local!

Tierra Vida Farm
Wholesale preschool & regular CSA options (June 15-Oct 19).
Wholesale Preschool CSA info: More eaters than a family, with less experienced taste buds. Preschools have different needs for produce than do families. More of the staples like carrots, beets, lettuce, cucumbers, and potatoes will be the majority of the box. More adventurous flavors will debut throughout the season in smaller amounts to keep it interesting and diverse. This mix of regular staples with a few extras mixed in will allow kids to experience new, fresh flavors without it being a major component of the meals. Boxes are pre-packaged so you can be in and out in 5 minutes. Durango, Three Springs, & Bayfield regular CSA pick-up; Durango wholesale preschool CSA pick-up.
Twin Buttes
In exchange for your up-front investment, you will receive a weekly box of seasonal produce grown on-site, a weekly newsletter with produce information, recipes, and our farm updates. CSA shares will be distributed over a period of 18- 20 consecutive weeks from June through October each season. Durango pick-up; payment due by May 1Learn more and register.
