Tonight we are invited to join with others in College Park, remotely, to pray for racial justice. People are praying right now, and have been praying since 10am this morning. Voices of many faiths are crying out for justice. Let us join with our local community by Zoom this evening: http://b.link/CPBLM
In the coming days, Hope continues to have ways to engage in community and faith with each other. Join Wednesday evening's Bible Study as we study Colossians this week. Join Thursday evening's community group to share how we are living our lives in these Pandemic Times. Share the invitation to Friday's Moms in Community Group with any moms of young children in your life. Join me, Silas and Katesh in person for a Friday evening vigil along 16th St NW in Washington DC. And maybe even come to Sunday afternoon's "Dear Church" book group.
And of course, join us for Sunday worship. This week we'll have "Kitchen Table Worship" again; you are invited to bring some food or drink to wherever you sign-on for worship. There will be a point in the service where we remember that Jesus joins us at our tables, wherever we may be.
Sometimes, summer is a time when the church gets quieter. That doesn't seem to be the case this summer. Join any of these groups or conversations that seem interesting to you. I pray they help us grow in faith.
Peace of Christ, Pastor Julie

Pandemic Journal Community Group
Part Bible Study, Coffee Hour, Reflective Conversation, and Social Distancing Support Group. In this group, our purpose it to explore a big question together, in its various nuances: “What are you learning about yourself, others, and God during this time of pandemic, quarantine, racial violence, and suffering?” Join us for prayer, self-reflection, and time for sharing and discovering insights during this time. There will be 4 sessions total, on Thursdays 8:30-9:30pm, every two weeks from June to August.
Session Dates: June 25, July 9, July 23, and August 6.

Dear Hope, it’s time to have a talk.
Clementa C. Pinckney, Cynthia Marie Graham Hurd, Susie Jackson, Ethel Lee Lance, Depayne Middleton-Doctor, Tywanza Sanders, Daniel L. Simmons, Sharonda Colemnan-Singleton, Myra Thompson. The Charleston nine were murdered five years ago this month during a Bible Study. They were killed by a Lutheran: Dylann Roof. Today, the United States erupts in confrontations over racism and police brutality prompted by the violent murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis. We must examine the role of the church in perpetrating injustice and how we can work to dismantle white supremacy starting at Hope. Matthew Salzano and Aaron Zeiler are going to host a weekly book study of Rev. Lenny Duncan’s Dear Church: A Love Letter from a Black Preacher to the Whitest Denomination in the U.S. White people and people of color are invited to join. Hope will provide copies of the book. Email Matthew firstname.lastname@example.org to express interest.
A group of 14 readers began this Sunday, June 21, 2-3pm. There's still time to join for the coming weeks!
