The Vacation Bible School group poses for the camera
Kids and families dance to music
Kids celebrate God's creation in water
Kids paint flowerpots, referencing how God helps us grow
Dear People of Hope,
This past weekend, 9 children from 5 families gathered at Hope for Vacation Bible School. Teachers, volunteers and parents helped everyone have a good time and learn about "What is God Like?" Every family was sent home with the recently published book of this title. Kids also took home egg-shakers and home-made drums, painted flower pots, wet swimsuits and fun memories.
Our children's ministry theology and theory at Hope is that first kids learn that church is a place where they have fun and where they are loved and cared for. Over time, they come to associate these experiences with God's love and Christian community. Thanks to our teachers, Erin, Addie, Brandon, Gillian, and Madeline for this Vacation Bible School. Saturday was a big with for helping young people grow in faith.
Thanks be to God,
Humble Walk Boarder Trip Monday July 19 - Monday August 1
Twelve students and ministry staff are off on their summer trip to the US/Mexico Boarder. As of now, they are road tripping the 30-hours south. They'll have a week of accompaniment and learning at the boarder. Then drive back to Maryland by Monday August 1. We pray for their safety and their open-hearted learning. We await updates to the blog where they'll share photos and stories.
They haven't had WiFi to update the blog yet, but watch for blog posts here:
Mealtrain for Jess, Chip and new baby Robbie share a meal, starting July 29
Hope members Jess and Chip welcome new baby Robert Edmund into their family and are home settling into life together as a family of 3. Welcome to the world, little one!
If you would like to take them a meal, you can sign up below. Not a cook? Carryout or giftcards are also fine.
Madeline's last Internship Sunday send cards to Hope
Madeline is with student for the Humble Walk Boarder Trip (see above). We celebrated her final Sunday at Hope this past week. If you didn't have a chance to make her a card, you can still mail cards to Hope. We'll make sure Madeline receives them. Share anything that may encourage and strengthen her for her next steps towards ordained ministry and leadership in the church.
Property Development Discernment Process check out the bulletin board for more info:
Hope's Council and Steering Committee continues to research, learn and guide Hope's property discernment process. Currently, they are exploring how others would assess the value of the land and learning about possible affordable housing options. Please continue praying that the Spirit guides our process. -------
