Hope's Development Discernment Pray, find documents online, ask questions
join next meeting Sunday January 10, 1pm
Hope's Council is inviting all people to engage in a discernment process about a possible property sale and redevelopment. Last week, many people gathered to learn about a development proposal Hope has received. If you couldn't make this meeting, find resources online and plan to join the next large group meeting.
1) Join council in praying, using this and other prayers: O God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the endings, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils and joys unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
2) Find documents here (listen or ask for the password):

4) And join us Sunday January 10 at 1pm for the next gathering: zoom link forthcoming
Give warm things to people at the PG Day Center between now and January 19
Hope continues our relationship with people at the PG Plaza Day Center, recognizing that this time of year, when the weather gets colder, is a hard time to live outdoors. The day center can most use:
New socks and underwear
New gloves and hats
Nice jackets large sizes especially appreciated
Hope is collecting any of these items between now and January 19. If you have a key, you can bring things to Hope and place them on a table in the fellowship hall (staff are at Hope intermittently, so you'll need to let yourself in). Or you may take things to Joan A's house in Berwyn Heights.
Give gift cards, support the church Contact Paul T for details
Hope participates in the nationwide Scrip gift card program. Participants buy gift cards at face-value for hundreds of retailers, including Amazon, Starbucks, grocery stories and airlines. And then the church receives a percentage of the sale. With the season of gift giving upon us, now is the time to think about how we can make the best use of this easy and painless way of benefiting our church!
Many retailers offer e-gift cards you can order yourself on line. In that case, if you haven't previously enrolled, you must do so at the Scrip website and enter Hope's enrollment code (DB1216C863874) to ensure Hope gets credit for your purchase. Payment for your e-gift cards can be paid for by credit card, by debit from your bank account, or by check to the church. Do this anytime!
Gifts of Hope “May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.” Jude 1:2
Though we love and long to feel merry and jolly during the holiday season, this time of year can be stressful for some. When we give to others who worry about shelter, food, health care, employment, and more, we give them the gift of peace and a heart at rest. When we don’t know what to give someone as a Christmas gift and we give to a ministry in his or her honor, we feel peace in knowing that we can end our search and that we’re helping to change the world. This Christmas, will you consider sharing peace with those outside our congregation? Visit www.giftsofhopedc.org for more information.
