Dear People of Hope,

In the midst of all that is happening in our world and our lives these days, sometimes you just need a minute to rest, breathe and know God's presence and care.  Here are two things that help me in times like this:

Hope's music youtube page:
Alex has posted some of the most popular pieces of music from these months of remote worship.  You can watch these anytime you want to see a familiar face or hear some uplifting music.

Pray As You Go:
This is a website (and also an app) that plays music, reads scripture aloud and guides you through prayer.  There's a new prayer every day, and several retreats and series on different themes.  Everything is free.

I pray in these days especially, you feel the comforting presence of our loving God.

Peace of Christ, Pastor Julie

movies@hope presented Being There
Friday, February 5 at 7:30 pm

Join us as movies@hope proudly presents Being There.  This Oscar-winning comedy from 1980 asks what has become an all too relevant question these days, what happens when the absurdly improbable becomes real?  The great Peter Sellers stars as a sheltered estate gardener whose entire experience of the outside world comes from watching TV.  By chance he becomes a trusted advisor to the president of the U.S., who takes his naive utterances as pearls of wisdom.  Associate Professor Mary Dutterer of Prince George's and Howard County Community Colleges will introduce this classic, recently placed on the National Film Registry.

Kids Sunday School resumes this week
Sundays, 9am

Kids and families are invited to join a time of singing, praying and learning about God's love for them and the whole world.  The programming is best-fit for kids aged about 2-8, but anyone is welcome.

This Sunday, kids will be learning about creation and making binoculars to examine creation more closely.  Save 2 toilet-paper tubes (or similar cylinders) for this craft.
Fundraiser for PG Day Center
Nando's donates 40% of orders!

Tuesday February 23, 4-8pm

In a few weeks, Nando's on Rt 1 in College Park will donate 40% of their dinner orders to CUCE (Congregations United for Compassion and Empowerment) and the PG Plaza Day Center ministry. Nando's specializes in a South African way of preparing chicken and it's terrific.  Carry out orders can request everything from no spice to lots of heat.

Donating 40% is a BIG DEAL! Consider encouraging neighbors to place orders for a certain time slot- then offering to pick up all the orders and bring them to your house for easier donating.

View the menu and place orders on Nando's website:
Continued prayers for friends and family of Jude
Opportunities to support and give

We continue to pray for the family and friends of Jude as they mourn Jude's death, using this and other prayers:

O God, support us all the day long of this troubled life, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes and the busy world is hushed, the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then, in your mercy, grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last, through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Jude was an active participant in (Re)Born This Way, a Christian small group for LGBTQ+ students.  Donations in Jude's name to support this effort may be accepted at
Hope's Development Discernment
Pray, find documents online, ask questions
watch for sign-up for small groups

Hope's Council is inviting all people to engage in a discernment process about a possible property sale and redevelopment.  Recently, many people gathered to learn about a development proposal Hope has received.  If you couldn't make this meeting, find resources online and plan to join the next large group meeting.

1) Join council in praying, using this and other prayers:
O God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the endings, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils and joys unknown.  Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

2) Find documents and past zoom meeting here. (listen or ask for the password):
This now includes answers to many of the questions that have been asked by the below form.

3) Ask questions here:

4) Sign up to be in a small group for more conversations, questions and answers.
