Hope's annual opportunity for giving will kick off shortly.
Each fall at Hope there is a special opportunity to donate to local, regional and international charities. Local donations will be given to the PG County Plaza Day Center/CUCE, regional donations to the Lutheran Immigration/Refugee Services and international donations to the Lutheran World Relief/Middle East Fund.
Please specify which organization you would like your donation to be sent to; unspecified donations will be divided equally between the three. Checks may be placed in the offering basket or mailed in. You may also give online through our regular online giving link.
Thank you in advance for sharing your blessings!
Aaron Zeiler and Matthew Salzano to wed next month

Matthew and Aaron are excited to share that they are planning to be married at Hope in November 2022. Matthew and Aaron became members in 2020 and are so excited to be married in this church that they consider home. They ask for your prayers for a long and fulfilling marriage.
Meet the Guest Minister!
Rev. Lamar Bailey unintentionally entered a Lutheran church in Denver, Colorado and discovered grace and the good news!

Raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the son of an evangelical non-denominational pastor, he earned a Master of Arts degree in Politics and Public Policy from the University of Colorado Denver.
A passion for peace, nonviolence, and economic justice guided him into his first career with several high profile and impactful public policy and service organizations. At the American Friends Service Committee’s Office of Public Policy and Advocacy, he was a Policy Impact Coordinator; at Share Our Strength, he was a Program Manager for the No Kid Hungry Campaign; at the National Conference of State Legislatures, he was a Policy Associate; and at the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, he was a Housing Counselor.
Because of these and other formational experiences, Pr. Bailey is now passionate about sharing the good news of God in Jesus Christ to all people and welcoming new people into the faith. Pr. Bailey earned a Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg and served as pastor at Saint Stephen Lutheran Church in Silver Spring, MD, a multiethnic congregation. Pr. Bailey joined the synod staff in September of 2019 as Assistant to the Bishop and Director of Evangelical Mission.
Pr. Bailey is married to his high school sweetheart, Elise. Together they are the proud parents of two spirited girls, Cora (10 years old) and Celeste (9 years old). In his free time, Pr. Bailey enjoys football, traveling, hiking, fishing, and spending time with his family.
On October 26, from 9 am - 4 pm, United Lutheran Seminary will host (Gettysburg campus and via Zoom) a daylong conference on “1522/2022: Lutheranism and the Status Quo.”
Here’s a description of the topic: “The year 1522 was decisive in the history of the Reformation—Luther repudiated the push for rapid, iconoclastic changes to worship led by his one-time ally Andreas Bodenstein von Karlstadt, aligned himself with a prince-led Reformation, and published his prayerbook and his translation of the New Testament to shape the piety of the ‘common person.’ This year’s Luther Colloquy examines how Luther secured the endurance of the Lutheran Reformation and asks what we can learn for good or for ill. How did Lutheranism establish itself as the status quo and what resources for a theological challenge to the status quo remained and remain?"

Cost for the event (virtual or in person) is $15, deadline for registration is October 16.
