Tuesday
noon-3pm - Hope serves lunch at PG Day Center
Dear People of Hope,
I have returned from 12 weeks of parental leave, and it is good to be with you all at Hope. This past Sunday, my family of 4 all came to worship together. Baby Nimi slept in a carrier on my chest while I led worship (pictured); Silas and Katesh worshiped from the front pew. It all felt incredibly normal, if also very new. We are still figuring out new routines at home. I am digging my way through church emails, council minutes and property updates. It will take some time to get back up to speed, but it feels good to be back with you all.
Thank you for being a faithful church, caring for me and my family, giving us these 12-weeks of parental leave. Thank you to the many people who supported the church in my absence, especially the staff, parental leave team, council, and countless volunteers. I really was able to relax and focus on family at home, knowing you all were in good hands, caring for each other.
I am grateful to God for you.
Peace of Christ,
Pastor Julie
PS - Even though I've just returned, I'll be away November 16-20: We are traveling to Austin for a family wedding, a 3-day Indian Wedding for Silas’s younger brother. We look forward to returning to you all with some great stories. Pastor Ray will lead Sunday worship and is available for any emergency pastoral care.
Good Neighbor Day (Hope is a service site)
Saturday November 12, 8:30-noon
Please join others November 12 in the morning for College Park's Good Neighbor Day. There are a record breaking 40 service projects addressing sustainability, food insecurity, education, social justice, and the aging population. There are also 6 workshops including an exciting board game and a thought provoking exhibit from the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, three essential presentations on addressing mental health in our communities, and a fun, hands-on class for adults who want to learn how to ride a bike.
Humble Walk students are leading the Guilford Run project right in front of Hope, but there are so many good places to volunteer! Register here:

Hope's Fall Financial Giving
Each fall at Hope there is a special opportunity to donate to local, regional and international organizations. Local donations will be given to the PG County Plaza Day Center/Congregations United for Compassion and Empowerment (CUCE), regional donations to the Lutheran Immigration/Refugee Services and international donations to the Lutheran World Relief/Middle East Fund.
When you give, please specify which organization you would like your donation to be sent to; unspecified donations will be divided equally between the three. Checks may be placed in the offering basket or mailed in. You may also give online through our regular online giving link.
Thank you in advance for sharing your blessings!

Finals Kits for College Students Collecting treats now through Sunday December 11
Hope is collecting donations for finals kits between now and December 11th. These treats will support UMD students through what is always a stressful time on campus. Best loved treats are: microwave popcorn, individually wrapped tea bags, chewing gum, snack bars (granola/protein/nut), drink packets and cheese or peanut butter crackers. Then stay after worship on Sunday December 11 to pack the kits to give to students.
Thanks Mary C who is coordinating this program!
Alex plays Rachmaninov for his 2nd dissertation recital Thursday, December 8, at 8pm
