Happening every Thursday!!!

The children's Music and Merrie Movement class at Hope has begun. Last Thursday was a great success. Young children are loving this program.
Children 18 months - 5 years meet for a 30-minute session for a combined music and movement class to develop age-appropriate motor skills, body awareness, and social skills.  Free, donations welcome.

Thursdays, September 15, 22 and 29
9:30am for smaller kids (1.5 - 2.5 years, with grownups)
10:05am for bigger kids (2.5-4 years, with grownups)

Don't know families with young kids?  Please pray for the instructor Melanie, for Hope's visibility in the community, for everyone's fun and safety.

Peace of Christ, Pastor Julie

Humble Walk
Up and Running!

Pastor Ray and Tori have started the semester with a bang! It began when Hope hosted the Humble Walk students to a dinner of "outstanding tacos." Stay informed on their busy schedule as many opportunities are available to Hope members.

Taize Worship is open to all. Beginning on Wednesday, September 21, from 9-9:30pm, at the Memorial Chapel, Humble Walk will host a Taize worship service. After next Wednesday, worship will occur every other Wednesday. (9/21, 10/5, 10/19, 11/2, 11/16, 11/30 and 12/14).(Parking is free, behind the chapel in Lot Y.)

If you're a Humble Walk Alumni, consider the camping weekend. Alumni are invited to a weekend of fellowship and recreation from Friday, October 21 to Sunday, October 23 at the Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp, Shenandoah Valley. There are some structured activities and many optional. Lodging is offered in various of comfort! (The cost per night varies based on level of comfort, $25-$60 per night. Either way, the cost includes all meals.)  This is an opportunity to relax and experience the outdoors together! Contact Tori at lutheran@umd.edu for more information and to register (preferably by October 8 so she can send in the head count.)

Finally, welcome new Program Assistant, Tori Valcarcel to the Hope family! She should look familiar as she is HW Alumni. Follow her and all Humble Walk activities at www.HumbleWalk.org.
A Grace Filled Exit - Preparing for End of Life

"Your family cannot carry out your wishes for your grace-filled exit if your wishes have not been made known, and then your exit becomes anxiety-filled. Everyone should prepare because everyone has an expiration date.

St. Anthony Park Lutheran Church, an ELCA congregation in St. Paul, MN, has created an on-line video series called, "A Grace Filled Exit – Preparing for End of Life." Topics covered are: 1) advocacy, agency, and spirituality, 2) loss, grief, and bereavement, 3) caregiving, 4) hospice and palliative care, and 5) legal and financial preparations. There's also a downloadable support and resource guide accompanying the series. Tap onto their website here: https://saplc.org/Health-and-care
Pastor Julie's Parental Continues

Pastor Julie continues her parental leave to connect with her growing family.  During this time, she won’t be responding to email, phone messages or even worshiping at Hope.  Throughout the fall, Pastor Ray will be available for pastoral care, staff support and monthly council meetings.  Beth will maintain Hope’s office and calendar.  Several different pastors will be present on Sunday mornings to preach and lead worship.  This is an exciting time for both Pastor Julie and also for Hope to grow in new ways.  You may contact Council President, JT, or any member of the Parental Leave Planning Team: Mark D or Jess H with questions.
Hope Continues Sunday Safety Precautions

We are grateful for in-person worship and our safety precautions are more than outdoor communion. We ask anyone who does not feel well to stay home. Everyone over 2 years old will wear a mask throughout indoor worship. Speakers are fully vaccinated and remove their masks for speaking only. Everyone is physically distanced in the sanctuary. Weekly paper bulletins are available for you to pick up and then recycle. Offering baskets are available as you enter and exit, but no longer passed around. Sharing of the Peace is done verbally, and attendees are encouraged to enjoy the music, but remain masked when singing. Children are always welcome but there is no daycare during worship.

Working together we can protect each other during worship.
