This Sunday at Hope will be a welcome-back Rally Sunday. We will officially welcome new members and we'll also welcome students, families, and all of us back to fall programming. Pray for the new members who will be joining:
Daphne and Ron R
And join us this Sunday at Hope!

News of the Community:
Immigration and Immigration Reform: Sunday, September 8, after the worship service in the fellowship hall, everyone is invited to join a conversation on the pressing situation of immigrants, immigrant children, and families in our country today. How does our faith shape our perspectives on, and relationships with, these “strangers in our midst?” With the ELCA declaring itself a sanctuary church, how might we hear this new call to work for humane policies? Pr. Ana L. and guests will lead this conversation.
Growing Something Beautiful for God: What dreams do you have for our church? What hopes do you have for us collectively, as Christ’s body in this place? What do you see as areas for growth in your own life of faith? This Fall, with the theme of Growing Something Beautiful for God our congregation will be motivated to envision a beautiful offering to present to God. From “preparing the soil” to “harvesting the fruit”, we will be guided to reflect on growing in our discipleship, and looking forward to a joyful ingathering.
Pastor Julie’s Parental Leave: Pastor Julie is expecting a baby in mid-September. Throughout the fall she’ll take 12 weeks parental leave to connect with her new and growing family. During this time, she won’t be responding to email, phone messages or even worshiping at Hope. Throughout the fall, Pastor Ray Ranker will be available for pastoral care, staff support and monthly council meetings. Beth Cooler will maintain Hope’s office and calendar. Several different pastors will be present on Sunday mornings to preach and lead worship. This is an exciting time for both Pastor Julie and also for Hope to grow in new ways. You may contact Council President, Mary C, or any member of the Parental Leave Planning Team: Paulette T, Liz D, and Jeff T with questions.
Scrip at Hope: Hope has joined the nationwide Scrip program as a way for members and friends of the congregation to support Hope through purchases from over 750 retailers. Like the former Giant gift card program, Scrip offers gift cards at face value, but then pays Hope a rebate of from 2% to 16%, depending on the retailer. Unlike the Giant program, the range of products available is almost unlimited -- including gas, groceries, clothing, dining, entertainment, home improvement, travel, and other items. Gift cards can be ordered through the program coordinator, Paul Thompson, or can be purchased directly on line by members who register with Scrip. Please contact Paul for a list of participating retailers and more information about how the program works. Proceeds from this incredibly flexible and easy-to-use program will be used to support special ministry projects and possible building improvements. Take a look at their website (www.shopwithscrip.com). To enroll and order your own gift cards use the Enrollment code of B869LA2L63874 to link yourself to Hope to donate the proceeds.
