Lent at Hope - God Speaks in a Variety of Ways Beginning Wednesday March 6
Lent is the 6 weeks of prayer, reflection and preparation before Easter, starting Wednesday March 6 this year. Throughout these weeks at Hope, we’ll be listening for how God speaks in a variety of ways, through a variety of people. Each Sunday, our worship, we’ll highlight a different historic saint and what we can learn from their lives of faith. These saints come from the church calendar. Some post-worship education events and Wednesday mid-week prayer services will continue these themes. Wednesdays throughout Lent, we gather with our neighboring church, St John Lutheran Church in Riverdale for soup and prayer. These Wednesday services will help us consider our own lives and contemporary saints.
See dates and details embedded in the calendar list below.

Update from Jones Family John Henry and Elaine's children wrote this note to people at Hope on Monday afternoon:
Thank you for all of your love, support, and prayers this week. We feel your presence with us. We are writing to update you all on our Mom and Dad (Elaine & John Henry Jones).
Mom's wishes are to be comfortable and to pass in peace, and we are comforted in knowing that she is in good hands with all of the nurses, family, and friends who are carefully and lovingly caring for her and for Dad, both in person and spiritually from afar. We know Mom and Dad have cared for so many people throughout their lives and that you have deeply been a part of their life and our family.
Mom has been in hospice care in Greenbelt for the past several days at Capital Caring, near NASA, in a wonderful supportive caring space that feels like home. She slept very peacefully last night and she is resting comfortably this afternoon as she moves toward eternal rest in peace. We continue to talk to Mom and share your thoughts and prayers and well wishes with her. The sun is shining outside and streaming into her window, and the amazing image below speaks to us as heaven opening up and welcoming Mom internal eternal peace. It is a beautiful day and we know God is smiling upon her.
We profoundly thank you being part of our family, and for your ongoing love and support. You are a special part of our Jones family and family of Hope.
Love, Nicholas, Nathan & Corita Kate
----- If you feel close to the family, feel free to visit or call. John Henry is home in Greenbelt much of the time. Elaine is at Capital Caring Hospice, (park and ring doorbell behind Arbor Terrace Assisted Living) 9885 Greenbelt Rd, Lanham MD.

From 6:00 - 7:30 PM at Hope Lutheran Church there will be pancakes, sausage, and a free will offering that will go to to help the ELCA's work with the Roma people in Hungary. • Altar Care – prepare the space for Communion and clean up after
• Usher – welcome people to worship and guide them forward for communion
• Communion Assistant – serve the wine
• Assisting Minister – sit up front with the pastor and lead parts of worship
• Offering counter – work with a partner to record the money given after worship
• Coffee Hour Host – make coffee and bring snacks to support fellowship after worship
