"Child trafficking is one of the worst forms of violence against children. Preventing it is also a priority which I have set for my Office. Forms of exploitation vary, but the cruelty of the crime and its traumatic impact on the child are always deeply destructive and leave lifelong scars. Access to education without discrimination and regardless of migration status for all children, and the appointment of legal guardians for child victims, are important prevention and protection measures. Children should never be detained because of their migration status or for actions they were compelled to commit solely because of having been trafficked. We can and need to do better in order to protect the most vulnerable amongst us." OSCE Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combatting Trafficking in Human Beings, Ambassador Madina Jarbussynova, specially for Child Protection Hub.
