"Safer Internet Day is organised every February, jointly by Insafe/INHOPE network, with the support of the European Commission. The day is used to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile devices, especially among children and young people across the world. Each year, Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and chooses a topic reflecting current concerns; thousands of people in more than 100 countries around the globe join together to participate.

Our obligation is to prepare children to safely use computers and the Internet. We also need to provide them with advice appropriate for their age and educate them on the visibility and public availability of their personal information on the Internet. They need to be informed that there are various nasty, malicious and harmful consequences which occur in online communication, but we also need to encourage them to create safe content, show digital creativity and become lifelong Internet learners and explorers" Lidija Kralj, editor of the portal ucitelji.hr, and professor of mathematics and computer sciences.
