"Sunday 18th of October marked the 9th EU Anti-Trafficking day, which aims - amongst others -  to promote awareness on the reality of trafficking in human beings in Europe and beyond. This day represents yet another occasion to step up the efforts of all institutional and non-governmental actors that play a role in fighting modern-day slavery and protect its victims.

The current edition of our Newsletter intends to shed light on a number of initiatives that have taken shape throughout Europe and beyond, as well as share useful resources that may contribute to improving the knowledge and work of all professionals around the world who dedicate time and energy to prevent the most vulnerable from falling prey to reckless traffickers and protect those who already have.

This edition places special attention to the hardship faced by unaccompanied minors who reached Europe in search for a safe haven fleeing war and persecution at home, as well as by those who are moving within Europe in search of dignity. Insights from - or initiatives taking place in - Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria or in the United Kingdom are given prominence, demonstrating that not only the fight must continue against organised criminal networks and ill-intentioned individuals but also that much remains to be learnt by all actors involved,"

Pierre Cazenave, Tdh's Regional Child Rights Advisor.
