Hi there <<First Name>>,

Turns out, there's something to the idea of praying over your food.  Don't worry, you don't need to "get religion", this is more about two things: mindfulness and gratitude.

If you want to improve your sense of wellness, and to manage your weight, then one small daily change that could help is to give thanks before each meal or snack that you eat.

In doing so, you take a moment to stop and be mindful about the fact that you are eating, and that pause can also help you decide whether you really want to be eating the thing in your hand or on your plate.  It helps you become more aware of what you are actually eating, to honour both the food and yourself more.

Secondly, after becoming aware of your intention to eat this particular food, say thank you (out loud or silently), for the food you are going to eat.  You could also think about where the food came from - who and what was involved in making it and bringing it to the point where you can eat it.  Give thanks for the plants or animals involved, and the people and logistics.

This is a great practice to increase your awareness of what you're eating.  And the aspect of gratitude improves your mindset and your relationship to food overall.

It can be a bit tricky to get into the habit of doing this, and it is really worthwhile.

Maybe you could start with just one meal a day, giving thanks for the food in front of you.

And if you eat with family, perhaps you could share the idea with them.  You never know, they might get into it, and would also act as a support for you, if you forget.  And you'll be gifting them with a moment of mindfulness and a better attitude to what they eat, too!

Many blessings,
Chloë
