It seems like it was just yesterday I was putting away all our Christmas decorations and now - boom - its time to put them all up again. Yes, it is that time of year again - Christmas! As I unravel all my light strings (How do they get so tangled up each year?) I am excited as I love the bright lights of Christmas. Red lights, green lights, yellow lights and blue. But my favourite type of light is the old school white lights that brightly reflect off of the snow making it glisten like sparkly stars on the ground. Beautiful, warm and inviting light that pushes out the darkness with its bright hues.
This is how Jesus describes himself;
"I am the light of the world!" (John 8:12)
Jesus, himself is, beautiful, warm and inviting and he pushes out the darkness with his bright hues.
At Christmas we are reminded of a little baby born who grew as the light of the world! And we, the followers of this great light, are in effect his bright hues that Jesus shines through to push back the darkness in our world today!
What an exciting purpose we all have as followers of THE LIGHT of the world.
So, remember this. Each time you see the bright lights of Christmas think of Jesus the light of the world and consider how each bulb represents a follower of Jesus joining other Jesus followers into being a wonderful string of lights reflecting Christ in a dark world through acts of kindness, peace and a Gospel message of hope. This is how we will turn back the darkness and bring people into the kingdom of light! This is what we are committed to here at Connect City!
