Connect City will be very busy this summer serving refugee children and their families living in emergency housing as well as bringing peace to one of our government housing neighbourhoods and we need your help!  Read below about four opportunities on ways you, your friends and family, youth group or church, can help us out:

"Prayer is the greatest power God has put into our hands for service — praying is harder than doing, at least I find it so, but the dynamic lies that way to advance the Kingdom." - Mary Slessor

We need you to join us in prayer this summer. For some reason beyond my limited knowledge God has ordained prayer as the vehicle in which to accomplish his will through us. God always blesses but he has decided to work with his children to even bless more. God has so much goodness to bestow upon our lives, our city and world and out of his great love he chooses to allow us to join him in blessing the world. God wants you and I to work with him in bringing his peace to our cities through prayer and action with him. So, can you join us in prayer this summer? Here are things we need prayer for:
  • God's provision for our financial and resource needs. Financially we need God to provide funds for camp expenses, trips, athletic supplies and staff salaries. Resource wise we need items like food for our weekly BBQ's, arts and crafts supplies, paper and printing needs, snacks, etc.
  •  Protection against the forces of evil that align themselves against the will of God. We are deeply involved in spiritual warfare as we contend for souls that are of inestimable value to God and Satan. We are working with people who, in many ways, have been victims of sin and oppression through horrible experiences as refugees or inner - city violence. Pray for their healing, the power of the gospel to go forth and for our physical and spiritual safety as well as we serve this summer.
I just got off the phone with our Program Director for our summer camp program for refugee children. She called to confirm with me if she could rent a bus to take the children to the Royal Ontario Museum for week one. I happily said yes thanks to the many donors who have given to our "Peace In The City Summer Match Fund". So, I want to say a special thank - you to all of you who have given to make this a summer to remember for many inner - city children. The good news is that if you haven't given yet it is not too late! We have 12 days left in our match giving challenge. Every dollar you give until June 30 will be matched, dollar for dollar, by a friend of Connect City up to $20,000.00. So, now is the time to give as your gift will double in size and bless refugee children, youth and families in at - risk neighbourhood with a summer to remember.  Please give to the "Peace In The City Match Fund" by clicking the button below and it will bring you to Canadahelps so you can give electronically. Apply your donation to "Peace In The City Summer Match Fund" in designated box. Tax receipt will be given.
On top of the many things we are doing this summer we are also planning on hosting neighbourhood BBQ's for the Warden Woods community as well as for the refugee children and their families attending our camps.  Jesus showed us that food is a wonderful centre point where people gather around and enjoy the company of one another. So, we want to bring this element of Jesus' ministry into what we do this summer. For us to do this we need your help. We are seeking gifts in kind in the way of food donations (Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Sausages, Halal meat, buns, drinks and snacks to go with the BBQ food). If you can donate these items please let us know and we will let you know where our drop - off area is or, if need be, we can pick it up ourselves at your convenience. Just email Colin at -
Do you have time this summer to make a difference?  Is your family or small group looking at ways to bless our city this summer? We are looking for volunteers to help us out. If you can flip a burger, set up tables, pray, play in a worship band or just be present and available to lend a helping hand - we need you. All we ask is if you do two things before volunteering:

1. Please have a police check for vulnerable sector. We want to make sure all of our staff, volunteers and those we serve are safe.

2. Contact about your interest and we will get back to you asap.

Thanks for reading this newsletter and for your prayers and help. We appreciate all of you!
