Connecting you to what God is doing through Connect City.
I love this picture probably because it allows me to enjoy the fun of Christmas as seen in Santa yet, at the same time, it puts the entire meaning of Christmas into proper perspective - our SAVIOUR is born! What a reason to celebrate and to give gifts - God is with us now!
I don't know about you but I still get chills thinking of this wonderful gospel message and how God's love manifested itself that "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."God is present to us. God is not mad at you. God loves you and wants to restore His relationship with you through Jesus. What a wonderful God. That's love and that is the reality of the Christmas story. It is also the great message we share with the wonderful people we meet throughout our ministries at Connect City.
So, this Christmas as you plan to celebrate the holidays with family and loved ones, remember this greatest of all gifts - Jesus Christ. He has freed us from sin, death and the devil! What a story to tell and what a reason to celebrate the birth of our ultimate freedom fighter - Jesus Christ. As the classic Christmas anthem says so well; "He shall reign forever and ever!"

A Family Enjoying Santa From One Of Our Parties Last Christmas
CONNECT CITY CHRISTMAS FOR REFUGEE CHILDREN
Once again Connect City is involved in celebrating Christmas with hundreds of refugee children living in emergency housing who are seeking asylum here in Canada. We believe that each one of these valuable children, who are struggling in adapting to life in a new country, deserve to know they are loved and valued by God this Christmas. We also want to put a smile on their parents faces as they see their children not being left out of the Christmas spirit of joy this year.
For the second year in a row our intern, Brittany MacGowan, is heading up this enormous task of finding hundreds of toys so each child can get a present this Christmas. She is also recruiting volunteers, craft supplies and baked goods for all the children. I am so thankful and impressed by this young woman and the huge heart she has for these precious children.
If you would like to help us by having your church involved or by helping out yourself through providing toys, time or funding please let us know as it all helps Brittany and her team to put on a great party. Please do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Join us as we declare that; "Jesus reigns forever and ever!" as we watch him provide for these children through our Christmas parties.
CONNECT CITY CHURCHES: SOULHOUSE AND WARDEN UNDERGROUND CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS TOGETHER ONCE AGAIN
Staying on the topic of Christmas parties, last year our house church - SoulHouse - hosted a Christmas party for the youth of our other church - Warden Underground. It was such a huge success that they are doing it again! This joint Christmas celebration is an incredibly successful inter - generational gathering and why wouldn't it? After all, SoulHouse provides plentiful amounts of great food and Christmas goodies as well as long loud laughs. It is a guaranteed blast even if the gift exchange game can get rather violent.
From my time spent in both churches I can say that the anticipation for this party is growing and growing. Seeing people unify together in such joy even though they are from different generations and cultures is another sign that; "Jesus reigns forever and ever!".
SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS TO JON FOLKERINGA
Jon In Action Running The Detroit Marathon
We would be amiss to not congratulate one of our staff - Jon Folkeringa - who ran the Detroit Marathon this past October. Jon serves at the Warden Underground Church and has been a terrific leader for the youth he serves there as their Youth Pastor. Jonny - you have proven that you can do anything when you have the will power to stick it out. Thanks for the inspiration!
CHRISTMAS IS A TIME TO GIVE
As we celebrate the greatest gift ever given to us in Jesus Christ we also want to give Jesus back our gifts of time, talent and financial provision. We at Connect City are so thankful for our friends who support us financially, through prayer and through volunteering. These are all ways we give back to Jesus as we seek to live out his kingdom mandate.
Here are just a few of the gifts we have been able to give back to Jesus by shining the love of Christ on people this past year. Thanks for your support in allowing us to do what we do in honour of Jesus:

GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR THOSE WHO APPRECIATE RAP MUSIC
Spring 2020 Book ReleaseRev. Colin McCartney is hard at work with his third book expected to be published this coming Spring through Herald Press. Jesus said; "If you have seen me you have seen the Father" and Colossians 2: 9 states that; "In Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form...".The premise of the book is to encourage us to see how we have a Christ - like God and how this reality can impact our relationship with the Father and others.
WE CAN'T DO ALL WE DO WITHOUT YOU
Help us build leaders in our city who will lead simple churches to be beacons of light in the darkness of our urban neighbourhoods.
Jesus said he is the light of the world and told us to shine brightly for him through him living in us;
"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." - Matthew 5:16
With your help we seek to shine the light of Jesus in our city by being the body of Christ planted throughout neighbourhoods in simple, "New Testament" type churches through hospitality, kindness & Spirit - filled love for Jesus & others.
We don't have high tech programs or expensive buildings to maintain but focus on people through loving mission & nurturing relationships meeting in homes, community centers or any other place that is welcoming to people. We envision that one day we will see hundreds of simple churches spreading throughout our city as beacons of light amidst the darkness & despair that is present in far too many neighbourhoods. This is why we are serious about building young leaders to build simple inner - city churches that participate in the progress of the Gospel in government housing projects & beyond.
Please consider how you can be part of our simple church movement through supporting us financially or in prayer or even volunteering. We depend on God's people to provide the support our pastors / missionaries need so they can be freed up to serve their communities & the people they reach among the poor & hurting. To support our staff, interns & ministries please click on the button below & it will lead you to our on-line giving via CanadaHelps.
