Dear Parents and Guardians,

School may be done for the students but there are so many exciting things happening at SJB through the summer and into the 2019 - 2020 school year! As some of you may be aware, there is some classroom movement taking place in preparation for our building expansion project; which is getting closer!

  • The South Portable (Band and Art Portable) is being decommissioned, and will be taken down in the next few months. It has been here since the school was very young, and has given us excellent service, but it is getting old, and maintenance is becoming more and more difficult.
  • The Art Room will make a temporary move into the north half of the Library, until the new Art Room is built in our Building Extension.
  • The Learning Resource Room (401) is being converted into the Music Room, in preparation for the new Choir/Drama classes. This will be a temporary move, until our new Music Room is built in the Building Extension.
  • The library has been dismantled.  As we move further into the digital age, teachers and students rarely make use of the books or this space. Mini libraries that are subject specific have now been created in each classroom.  This will allow the library space to be split and serve as a temporary Art Room and as another classroom. Once our Building Extension is complete, the this space will undergo a further exciting change--stay tuned!!!
  • The IT lab is being converted into our new Learning Resource Center. Our new Learning Resource teachers, Mrs. Fricke and Mrs. Sousa are working diligently to make this a welcoming space for our students.
  • Mr. Calzavara is working hard to convert the mini-IT lab into the new IT lab.
  • The MPX will also be getting a refresh over the summer, to better suit our needs as a school.

Special thanks to Mrs. Lindenbach and Mr. Woitowitsch and Mr. Calzavara who worked so hard in cleaning out their rooms to make these changes possible. Special thanks to all the staff and some parents who worked like crazy in making these changes happen.

Regarding our Building Extension: Your SJB Building Committee is working hard to push the plan forward. We are at the stage now where our architect is working with the engineers and survey teams to prepare detailed designs to bring to the City of Abbotsford. Once the City has given the permits we need, we can approach the Archdiocesan Building Commission for final approval, then we go through the tendering process to hire a general contractor, and we are on our way. We are realistically looking at a start date within the latter half of the 2019 - 2020 school year. Very exciting times at SJB!!

Wishing you all a restful and safe summer.  We'll see you back in September.

Mr. Gianni Bittante

Exam results will be available for the June English 12 exam at the end of July. Transcripts are mailed out the same day from the Ministry of Education to Grade 12 students. Students can see their provincial exam results via the internet at They will need their PEN number.

Students in Grade 12 should have now completed their Post-Secondary Institution Choices online at the above website. This will allow their final transcripts to be forwarded to the post-secondary institutions of their choice. Grade 12 students who have applied to a post-secondary institution must log on to the above website and complete the PSI selections section if they have not already done so. Otherwise, the university will have no proof of graduation and the student may lose their admission.

If any data is incorrect on the final transcript from the Ministry of Education, students should contact me, Mr. Fraser and NOT the Ministry of Education. They cannot make changes to your transcript without us being involved. Good luck to our grads!
