Happy New Year OHSPRA!
I hope 2022 has been good to you thus far. I look forward to the potential of what the year holds. January is a meaningful month for me personally. It is the month my daughter Isabella was born. This year will be kind of different. She is away at college so this will be the first time we won’t be celebrating her birthday with her in person. I’m sure we will adapt by sending her gifts and singing Happy Birthday via Facetime on her big day, but it will be different.
Kind of like our school year (don’t you love my tie-in and transition…LOL!) The last couple of Januarys have been different than we are used to in school communications and January 2022 is no exception. We will publicize students’ accomplishments and promote our kindergarten information nights, but it will be different. We will inform our stakeholders on the happenings of their school districts and career centers, but it will be different. Community concerns around masking, mitigations, and vaccines amid a politicized pandemic will have that effect on school PR.
So, while 2022 is starting out differently, we can look ahead with hope for a better year in the long run.
For OHSPRA, that means starting off the year with a great Lunch & Learn online on Jan. 25. Then, looking forward to our in person Spring Conference and Annual Achievement Award luncheon in April. Please stay tuned to our monthly newsletters and our social media feeds for updates on these events and others from your OHSPRA Board.
Here’s wishing you and yours an amazing 2022. You got this! Let’s go!
Stay safe and stay healthy,

Lou DeVincentis
