It is important for yacht dealers and yacht brokers to know who is covered and who is not. Things to examine include the contract language of the brokerage listing, dockage agreement and most importantly the employment status of the broker handling the boat. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

 

Hazards exist in every workplace in different forms: sharp edges, falling objects, flying sparks, chemicals, noise and a myriad of other potentially dangerous situations. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) require that employers protect their employees from workplace hazards that can cause injury. Controlling the hazards at the source is the best way to protect employees. When this is not possible, employers must provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to their employees and ensure its use. Personal protective equipment is divided into categories based on areas of the body. OSHA segments these categories into areas such as eye and face, head, feet, and hands.

Solid Brokerage Sales Gains to Start the Year

U.S. brokers posted a moderate increase in sales volume in January and a major gain in total price paid for the boats sold. Brokerage volume rose 5 percent compared to the same month in 2016, and total value increased by 62 percent, with 1,585 boats selling for $323.3 million. 

According to YachtWorld member brokerages reporting in SoldBoats, the dollar value was an extraordinary result, some $80 million more than any other January in the last five years. On the other hand, while the total volume was above the previous two years, it was still slightly less than the average number of boats sold in January during the previous five years.
