Milagros Contemporáneos
Queridas Javerot,

Here is a video to get into the holiday spirit 😃

The Miracle of Hanukkah and Everyday Life Miracles

What comes to mind when you think of miracles? Do you think of the Red Sea splitting into two, letting the Jews safely escape from Egypt? Or do you think of you a teenager at risk who despite his troubled upbringing succeed in achieving his dreams? Miracles do not only belong to our ancient past. To care for one another is embedded in Jewish religion, culture and history by values of Tikun Olam and Tzedakah. When extraordinary things occur to ordinary people, these are the miracles of today, and WIZO strives to make these everyday miracles happen. Read more...

Hanukkah, the Holiday of the People

Hanukkah in Israel is a time of light, joy and celebration of Jewish strength and resilience, which is something that all Israelis can relate to. As opposed to many other Jewish holidays that are celebrated in a more serious manner, Hanukkah is spent all over Israel at parties giving gifts, singing and dancing. Of course, not to forget, Sufganiot with all kinds of delicious fillings and decorative toppings are eaten is massive amounts. Read more...

Israel Being a Light to Other Nations with Emergency Aid Recognized and Ranked Highest by the UN

Israel's emergency medical response team has been recognized by the UN as number one in the world. Furthermore, it is the first foreign emergency medical team in the world to receive a Type 3 classification for its field hospital, which means that Israeli medical teams will be the first on scene at emergency disasters. Israel's field hospitals can be set up in under 12 hours and they have over 86 patient beds and four operating tables. The Israeli team has the capability to perform 15 major surgeries or 30 minor surgeries in a day, being a light in the darkness of a disaster. Read more...

Instilling Jewish Pride, Building Courage and Fostering Brotherhood

The story of Hanukkah teaches us about how the Maccabees fought the Greeks, defending the Jewish belief and the Jewish people living in the land of Israel from alienation. During the time of the Maccabees, many Jews did not fight against Greek dominance, and assimilated into Greek culture for political and economic reasons. However, the Maccabees, who were a group of outnumbered "rebels", stood up against the Greeks, determined to defend their Jewish identity and their homeland. The story of Hanukkah can teach us valuable lessons today of how to strengthen our commitment to the State of Israel despite whatever odds are against us. Read more...
