Dear Friends,

The secret of change Is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new ~ Socrates

When ultra-Orthodox media outlets published the traditional picture of the new Israeli cabinet they blotted out the faces of the three female ministers on the grounds that pictures of women offend religious norms. Through this act of censorship women's faces may have been momentarily obliterated from the public eye but thanks to courageous Haredi-Orthodox female activists like Adina Bar-Shalom, Esty Shushan and Ruth Colian, who are defying the usual expectations of their insular communities, these victims of discrimination have been given a voice.

Since its inception, the women of WIZO have stood for women's rights and helped women in all echelons of society; demonstrating their unswerving faith in the potential of women to shape and influence public life.
