Teacher Institute for the Arts
Our vision of Educating Educators has become a reality, thanks to an anonymous foundation that has initiated and funded the Teacher Institute for the Arts! The Institute was structured as a week-long seminar at Camp Stone, Pennsylvania for teams of Judaic studies and art teachers from eight American Jewish day schools.

The focus of the Institute
was on preparing the educators to more fully integrate the arts into Jewish learning, and the teams in this first cohort will do just that by working on special projects throughout the 2015-2016 year with their respective schools, with our continued mentorship.

On the Israeli scene, we are also influencing teachers and principals from the TALI (Hebrew acronym for “enriched Jewish Studies”) network of schools, as well as the MEITARIM school network, a joint religious-secular system, via our advanced training workshops. In Jerusalem, participants in the Pardes Center for Jewish Educators have also benefitted from Kol HaOt's creative, interactive art and Judaics programs, which they can add to their pedagogic toolkit.

These initiatives will undoubtedly change the culture of Jewish learning, and they already represent a quantum leap in Kol HaOt's mission to “educate the educators” by fusing the head, hand and heart into the Jewish classroom.

Kol HaOt's executive director, Elyssa Moss Rabinowitz is featured in Da'at Educational Expeditions' September photo-blog Tmuna! Read how she, and the Kol HaOt Team, harness the arts as an educational tool to make Judaism more approachable and accessible to all.

Kol HaOt Conference Appearances

A special interactive art program on "פתחו לי שערי צדק: Gates, Openings and Doorways" will be presented by Kol HaOt on November 11, from 11 am to 12:30 pm, during the JCC Global's 9th World Conference in Jerusalem. Attending the conference? Then be sure to be a part to this moving and inspiring workshop that will impact your community!
The biblical ritual of bringing an offering of the first fruits was depicted in abstract shape and color by Limmud Jerusalem participants, who explored their own creative depths and surprised themselves as they jumped into Kol HaOt's "From Text to Symbol" workshop in August. Check out the fruits of their creativity
