Include Newsletter, July 2015
Dear <<First Name>> <<Last Name>>,

On 23 June, INCLUDE, together with the Food & Business Knowledge Platform (F&BKP) and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized an expert meeting with Dr Bekele Shiferaw. The session generated a fruitful discussion on the various strategies to overcome barriers for employment generation in inclusive value chains. Read a report of the meeting.

In a new one pager, INCLUDE describes evidence and gaps in outcomes of social protection interventions largely in Africa. The one pager provides a quick scan of available resources and knowledge on social protection, which policy-makers, researchers and practitioners can draw on in their work.

Preliminary findings of the research project on ‘Feeder road development’ in Tigray, Ethiopia suggest that the concept of ‘productive employment’ needs to be understood in a broad sense to assess the different types of sometimes unquantifiable costs and benefits accruing from roads. The researchers also found that, in addition to improving access to jobs, roads affect other forms of work and productivity and have an impact on the natural environment. Read an update of the research project.

The INCLUDE website has a new feature. In the overview of references to articles, reports and web pages that INCLUDE has selected for you, you can now filter the references by theme (inclusive development, productive employment, social protection, strategic actors) or country (Benin, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Rwanda, Uganda). Please feel free to share relevant publications with us.

You can stay up-to-date on the activities of INCLUDE through its website, Twitter and LinkedIn. Please feel free to forward this newsletter to others who might be interested. They can subscribe to the newsletter here.

Kind regards,

The INCLUDE Platform Secretariat
