Changes to the School Uniform
Alongside discussions with parents, we have been working with AlleyCatz to enhance the quality and suitability of the uniform offered to our pupils. We are now delighted to share this information with you:
Already introduced this term is a backpack for pupils in Year 3 – 6.
All new blazers now have the WGS logo, replacing the book logo currently on the blazer pocket. These will be available in AlleyCatz from the beginning of July.
Elastic ties offered to the younger pupils will become redundant this summer and will be replaced by velcro fastening ties for pupils from Reception to the end of Year 2.
Another modification already introduced is the addition of WGS to the back of the WGS reversible sports jacket, linking it to the branding on the Key Stage 2 tracksuit bottoms.
In September 2020 an improved sports kit will be introduced for pupils in Years 3 – 6 with a performance polo in both fitted and unisex shaping with co-ordinated shorts, skort and sports socks.
We would like to assure parents that there is no expectation to purchase any of the new items once available or to replace current well-fitting items of uniform but they should be purchased as and when naturally required. The current sports kit will remain as uniform until July 2021 but all pupils will be expected to wear the new items from September 2021 and mixing and matching old and new items of sports kit will not be permitted.
Friday 7th June - Coffee morning to share creative writing
You may have seen on the calendar that we will be holding a coffee morning for parents on Friday 7th June from 10.00-11.00am to share some of the initiatives and writing that have resulted from the English focus that has formed part of our school development plan during this academic year. We are excited to be able to share some of the wonderful work that the children have produced, as well as explain briefly the ways in which we have supported and extended their writing. Andy Rumbold, who has run highly successful writing workshops with KS2 during the year will be speaking about the importance of reading with children.
