  Mr Harrison's blog

What a term it has been! It has been jam-packed with learning activity from Kindergarten through to Year 6. The children have been constantly striving for higher standards, each at their own levels and the effort grades for each of the pupils in Key Stages 1 and 2 are evidence of that earnest and sustained approach.

The children in Reception and Kindergarten have delighted us all this week with their wonderful portrayal of the Christmas story. Look at our gallery of photos.
Countdown to Christmas in Year 1
There has been much excitement in year 1 over the last week as we are starting to get ready for Christmas. The children had a very mysterious letter waiting for them on Tuesday morning and they were thrilled to find out that not only was it from Father Christmas, but that he had also hidden a present for them in the library.
Art gallery
This week’s Art Gallery was a fantastic opportunity for parents, pupils and staff to get a glimpse of just some of the artwork that the keen and talented children at Weston Green School have been making this term. The class teachers and their pupils worked hard to produce pieces of art inspired by real artists to enter the “Art Focus” category and parents encouraged children to create winter masterpieces at home to be entered into the “Home Projects” category.

Food glorious food!
The Food Committee has had a tremendous first term, and they have represented the views of the school well in the monthly meetings.  For example, their push on improving manners and eating habits in the dining-hall has given the school a gentle reminder that the Golden Rules need to be followed everywhere.
School Council update
This term the school council have decided upon the school charity for this year. But instead of selecting one, we now have FOUR! That’s right, four charities to raise funds for. Each one is different and a worthwhile cause, and two are ones we support on an ongoing basis.

  Weston Green's Learner Profiles
At Weston Green we want the children to understand themselves as learners and have identified characteristics of learning which have a significant impact upon pace of development and which help to deliver outstanding learning. To help the children think about these characteristics within themselves, we have linked these to woodland animals so that the concept is accessible to all pupils. Watch a short video about our Learner Profiles.
