Mr Harrison's blog

After another busy and fruitful half term, the children will deserve their break before the build up to assessments in November.

Since September, we have been looking to set the platform for both the near future and for further ahead and that is why it was so good to see all those who attended the Key Stage 2 information evening last Thursday.

Key Stage Two at Weston Green School

In Key Stage 2, all pupils are provided with a range of opportunities both in and outside the classroom, to help them reach their full potential. Watch our video insight into life in Years 3 to 6.

Reception go pumpkin picking

Reception children went on their first trip on the mini-buses to Garsons Farm.  When we arrived at Garsons Farm we were met by Kelvin, the very friendly tractor driver.  The children climbed aboard the trailer and we set off for a tour around the various fields on the farm, identifying different crops growing in them.

Year 4 explore Painshill Park

On a fresh and sunny Monday Year 4 were privileged  to leave their classroom and make the short trip to Painshill Park. The purpose of the visit was to deepen their knowledge of Roman Britain, and develop their map work skills.

KS2 choir at Epsom College

The Year 4 and Year 5 members of the choir were invited to take part in the Epsom College Prep Schools’ Music Festival last week.
This proved to be a wonderful day of singing, led by music staff from the college, in the company of over 200 children from a total of 11 prep schools.

Bikeability and Pedals training

This week saw Weston Green's first foray into the world of cycle training, with Bikeability courses for year 5, and Pedals training for the younger children. In glorious autumn weather the children enjoyed learning more about balance, manoeuvring and above all safety so that they will be able to enjoy getting out and about on the bikes and scooters.

A seasonal recipe from the Food Committee

Why not visit Garson Farm like Recpetion did and pick some pumpkins to make your own pumpkin soup over half-term?  It's healthy, easy and looks great served in these pumpkin bowls?

All aboard the WGS morning minibus!

As part of the school travel plan parents now have the option of using the minibus pick-up service from Old Cranleighans.

Here are the comments of two happy customers: “Going on the school bus was really good and helpful because it's easier for Mum to drop me at O.Cs. rather than being late for her work.  There are also lots of your friends to talk to so you don't get bored!”   Talia M.
