  Mr Harrison's blog
It has been a wonderfully typical WGS fortnight: the children have been really working well (I don’t think I have awarded quite as many Headmaster’s Awards in any one fortnightly period), we have had several trips out (read more of these inside), had our first Class Assembly, played our first matches of the season .. and even had the parents working away hard at English in our ‘How we teach English’ evening. Yes, we are in full swing now and it’s great to be a part of the purposeful, energetic and focused school atmosphere.

All clean in Year 1
This week in PSHE the year 1 children were introduced to someone who needed help, Dirty Bertie! He was unsure of how to stay clean and healthy and so luckily year 1 came up with some pointers to help Dirty Bertie be more hygienic. They wanted to remind him to brush his teeth, clean his face, brush his hair and wash his hands. Let’s hope they set a good example by doing all of this too!

School Council gets busy
So begins a new academic year, and with it the flutter of excitement as pupils vote for the new School Council. Children who want to stand for election have to prepare a speech and stand up in front of their classmates which can be a daunting experience.   Poetry finals
Read More
Well done to all the amazing finalists who participated in this year’s Poetry Competition and showed what a talented group of performers we have at the school.    The theme this year tied in very neatly with our learner profiles and the audience was entertained by a range of poems based upon ‘Woodland animals’.  All the children from Reception to Year 6 had to learn a poem and it was incredibly hard for all the judges to pick just three finalists.
