Mr Harrison's blog

We have reached the finish tape and what an astounding term and year it has been - full of energy and accomplishment, laughter and joy, full of those ‘magic moments’ which have punctuated the term and, indeed, the school year; you will have your own, I know.

Speech day

The erecting of the marquee is a sure sign that the end of term is in sight and that Speech Day is on its way.  This year our guest of honour and prize-giver was Father Phil who delivered a very humorous speech about his favourite teachers at school with an overriding message to encourage us all to continue to learn by being ‘curious’

Robin Hood

Sherwood Forest has come to Weston Green – Robin Hood and his band of merry men, supported by a strong cast of villagers, have been doing battle with the evil Sheriff of Nottingham, Sir Guy of Gisborne and their thuggish soldiers.

A day at the seaside

Years 1 and 6 arrived at school last Tuesday ready and raring for a day at the seaside. Armed with buckets, spades and bats and balls, the children eagerly clambered onto the bus, excited for their last school trip of the year.

The fruits of our labours

Here we are at the end of the year in our garden. Everything has grown at a phenomenal rate, it is as if we have had an abundance of water or something!

We have been very successful with growing our mangetout, and we are awaiting the arrival of our tomatoes, runner beans, potatoes, sweet peas and onions!

Getting ready for year 1

Reception children have been preparing for the long walk across the playground to ‘the BIG school!’  In circle time children have been discussing with their peers what they would like to learn or take part in when they progress to Year1.

A tortoise visits Kindy

This week the children were extremely excited to meet a very special guest called Poppy. She is a 12 year old Mediterranean tortoise who normally is quite shy but really came out of her shell meeting lots of new friends. The children showed their patience and maturity, handling Poppy with great care, ensuring she was happy at all times. Thank you all for making Poppy’s visit to Weston Green so memorable, one which she will remember for the next 100 years!

New building update as the diggers arrive

A new playtime toy? No, it's the start of the building work!  Just as we pack up ready for the end of term the diggers have arrived to begin work on on the exciting addition of new classrooms to house our growing key stage two. From behind huge metal fences the fascinated children watched the machines arrive to begin work on the foundations for the new building. Things will look very different by the time they return in September!  As they say ... watch this space.
