Mr Harrison's blog
What a wonderful occasion it was last Tuesday when the new building was officially opened by Mr Theo Paphitis! From humble beginnings in the 1950s and after an enthralling (and not always easy) history, it is a great sight to see the school now almost full-grown, with 200 children here and capacity for all from 3-11.
The platform for this development has been forged over a good number of years by others – notably Mrs Lucia Harvey – and today’s school site is testament to their industry, skill, dedication and faith.
Mr Harrison, Headteacher

Year 1 go to Hampton Court Palace |
Last week Year 1 went on a trip to Hampton Court Palace to learn about how times have changed since the Tudors. The children learnt about how to greet men and women, how people used to dress, that writing with the left hand was considered bad and how to take part in a traditional Tudor dance. The children were also fortunate to be able to see and feel some artefacts from the Tudor age.

Year 5 become Tudor explorers |
It's still early in the new school year but Year 5 has already had the chance to explore Hampton Court Palace. This trip was to further their knowledge and understanding of their history topic ‘Tudor Explorers’. The children were greeted by a 'Tudor' lady who took them on a tour of the palace and showed them all the different materials and artefacts that were brought to the country thanks to the brave Tudor explorers of the time.

Video: Watch Year 6 get to the heart of science |
Year 6 had a real treat this week. After spending the last few weeks studying the heart and circulatory system in detail, they got their hands on and dissected a lamb’s hearts. As one pupil exclaimed, "Wow my brother's in Year 8 and he has only just got to do this!” |

A new School Council |

Last week Weston Green School held its School Council elections. It was a nail-bitingly close event but, after much deliberation, the pupils chosen were as follows:
Freya, Lucas and Freya P for Year 3; Jessica and Oliver for Year 4; Archini and James for Year 5; and Jake and Ashani for Year 6. |

Poetry Competition is full of dreams and imagination |

The hall was buzzing with anticipation on Thursday afternoon, as the whole school eagerly awaited the final of ‘The Poetry Competition’. Inspired by Roald Dahl, this year’s theme of ‘Dreams and Imagination’ inspired many vibrant performances during the heats in the previous week. The calibre of performances was incredibly high, making life very difficult for the teachers who had to select three finalists from their year group. |
