  Mr Harrison's blog

Another phenomenally busy term draws to a close .. but not quite yet. The last few weeks have witnessed the Future Schools evening, the Open Morning for present parents, a Music Festival for y2, more successful hockey, the y2 football festival and the teatime concert - and yet there is still more to come: the House hockey, the Spring Concerts, the swimming gala and, of course, the Easter Egg Hunt! It is all part of the magic and value of the school, enabling the children can take on so much, doing it all in such accomplished fashion and deriving such obvious benefit from it.

Down on the farm

On Tuesday, 15th March, Reception went on their long-awaited trip to Bocketts Farm.  It was a beautiful Spring morning  and the children were filled with excitement especially as they boarded Danny’s new coach.  As we arrived at the farm we were greeted by friendly staff members who gave the children a safety talk and informed us of our morning’s program.  Firstly, we were taken to the barn and saw a goat being milked.  The children then had an opportunity to stroke a Polish Hen, a rabbit and two guinea pigs.

Rhema partnership update

Sherry Secker, Director of the Rhema Partnership, visited us on Friday 4th March and talked to all pupils from Reception upwards during assembly about her recent trip to the Rhema Garden in India.
She told us about the importance of the feeding programme they run, which is an after school club that children can attend where they are given a meal, can play and do their homework in a secure environment, rather than be out on the streets.

Along the river bank

Year 5 pupils took their learning outdoors last week when made a short trip to the banks of the Rivers Mole and Ember. They have been investigating rivers in their Geography lessons this term and this was an opportunity for them to see first-hand some of the geographical features they had been studying in the classroom.

Music Festival

There’s nothing quite as uplifting as the sound of children singing and when the children are also in beautiful surroundings such as St Martin’s Church in Epsom, you have the recipe for a wonderful morning.

The sound of spring

What a wonderful afternoon of music during our Spring teatime concert. We had a real array of musical styles and instrumentation. From Drums to Saxophone and Voice to Strings the children played with such confidence and enthusiasm. Well done to all the children who took part.
