March 2017

"Every charitable act is a stepping stone toward heaven..."
Henry Ward Beecher

It has been a very busy month at The Beani Bazar Cancer & General Hospital charity. The anticipation and preparation for our UK BBCGH team was over as we got to host and celebrate our Charity Fundraising Dinner and 4th Annual Awards Ceremony on the 21st March 2017

On 5th March 2017, we had Muhammed Abdul Karim, Editor of BANGLA MIRROR & Enamul Haque Renu, Assistant editor, SYLHET MIRROR visited Beani Bazar Cancer & General Hospital who had a chance to meet the staff and patients.

We believe it is important to educate the community in order to help and teach others. We offer informative sessions which will aid people’s lives with knowledge in many different ways and offer updates on the hospital.
On 5th March 2017, CHW conducted another community awareness session in Beanibazar Ideal Women College. Our Service promotion coordinator (SPC) discussed about our ongoing hospital services with students. Also on 15th March our CHW conducted community awareness sessions in different Union's of Beanibazar every day.
On 18th March 2017, we had a special visit from our BBCGH Chairman Alhaj Shams Uddin Khan who went to visit the hospital in Bangladesh. He was able to chat with patients & staff about service and find out how everything is going on.
On 21st March 2017, we hosted our grand Charity Fundraising Dinner and 4th Annual Awards Ceremony. It was held in the Royal Regency Hall in London. This was a very important and successful event with the help of all the staff, trustees, volunteers and donors. The event aimed to create awareness and seek further funds from our generous life members and other guests. We are truly grateful for all the support and funds raised during the event for the vulnerable in need of cancer care. Another aim was to thank our life members and award them with certification of appreciation. Without the life members and our other amazing donors, we wouldn’t be here today.

We had the privilege of inviting special VIP guests: Mr Stephen Timms MP, Ms Lyn Brown MP, Mayor of Camden - Ms Nadia Shah, Mayor of Redbridge - Mr Gurdial Bhamra, Councillor Joy Laguda MBE representing Mayor of Newham Sir Robin Wales in his absence.

Other dignitaries present were: our honourable guest Consultant - Dr.Shafi, Howard Dawber - Chair of Labour Friends of Bangladesh, Mr Unmesh Desai Assembly Member, Cllr Ohid Ahmed, Cllr Rubina Khan, Bangladesh High Comissioner - Mr Nazmul Quanine.
The event consisted of a wonderful mix of talents/ entertainment including the soothing voice of Ehsaan nasheed artist who performed nasheeds in Bengali, English and Urdu while the guests enjoyed their dinner.

BBCGH are proud to have developed partnership with Eastlea community secondary school. We were honoured to have performances from Keir Hardie Primary School and Eastlea Secondary School to promote Cancer Awareness during the evening.

The young children from Keir Hardie Primary School sang a special song "You Raise Me Up" and Eastlea Secondary School showcased a unique drama act about cancer which was a great contribution to the presentation.

We also had an exciting auction with amazing items including flights to Bangladesh to help raise further funds.

Overall we had a tremendous event with a great turnout, enjoyable evening and a lot of money raised for the unfortunate cancer patients in Bangladesh. For the hospital to continue to develop we need your continuous support and contribution.

We once again profoundly thank everyone who have volunteered their time, energy and resources for the hospital. We look forward to your continued support.
