Bettina Hubby Thanks for the Mammaries, The Facebook Feed at LAND  In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Bettina Hubby will unveil her newest installation at the new LAND HQ. The work chronicles the Facebook dialogue surrounding Hubby’s diagnosis of breast cancer and subsequent double mastectomy in 2014.

The Seth Bogart Show Closing Party at 356 S. Mission Hosted by Casey Jane Ellison, with DJ’s Cole MGN, Nite Jewel and Baby Donut, plus a live performance of celebrity imposters featuring Madonnerd, Cher, Brittany Spears + K Fed, Drake and other greats. There will also of course be Seth Bogart.

✞✞LIVE THRU THIS ☠ KURT COBAIN HAUNTED HECK ♀☠☣ A project by William Kaminski: an immersive haunted house created to surround you in the nightmarish specters of a dark and evil alternative history of our tragic icon: Kurt Cobain. Through a long interactive maze the audience encounters blood-curdling scenes brought to life by a cast of over 20 performers. $5 suggested donation.

RETURN TO FOREVERHOUSE at Machine Project An immersive environment and performance space. After passing through a black fur lined waiting room, visitors in groups of up to 6 people enter an installation that is not quite a living room, and not quite a children’s TV show set. While attempting to solve a way out of the off-kilter fantasy space, the audience interacts with an extensive rotating cast and motley crew. Tickets must be purchased in advance online here. (Echo Park, Friday 7pm)
A Performative Trigger: Radicals of Irvine at UCI University Art Gallery Curated by Juli Carson and Marilyn Nix, a group exhibition focused on luminary artists Chris Burden, Nancy Buchanan, Richard Newton, Alexis Smith, Barbara T. Smith, Bradley Smith, and Paula Sweet when they were making radical art as students at UCI.

The Mini Show at The Lodge Conjured up by fantasist and artist Clare Crespo,  the gallery has invited artists to create art pieces to fit in a miniaturized 10:1 scale model of the gallery space. Featuring works by Louise Bonnet, Clare Crespo, Tierney Gearon, Shane Guffogg, Miranda July, Konstanin Kakanias, Janet Levy, Geoff McFetridge, Jon Pestoni, Rob Reynolds, Joe Prime Reza, Ed Ruscha and Mary Wigmore.

The Bread and Puppet Theatre perform FIRE at Blum and Poe  For the first time in fourteen years, artist Peter Schumann and the Bread and Puppet Theater will tour the West Coast and will be performing its original play, FIRE, which catapulted the company to international acclaim 50 years ago. Surface of Color at The Pit Curated by Paul Pescador Surface of Color brings together work by ten artists who use abstraction as a conduit to examine ideas of personal identity, race and queerness. Artists include: Eduardo Consuegra, Lecia Dole-Recio, EJ Hill, Pearl C. Hsiung, Lee Maida, Amanda McGough, Mark McKnight, Amir Nikravan, Anna Sew Hoy & Brenna Youngblood

homeLA at Cudayh From the premise of working in an open, "empty" space, guest curator, Nickels Sunshine, would like to emphasize the missing presence of home by inviting artists to bring the ghost of a performance, resurrected and adapted for a hillside at dusk. All shiny anecdotes welcoming us and referenced in the land of The Seth Bogart Show. A world where mundane plasticity, whimsical ‘tantazy’ and fictional beauty products— including Legg’s control top ‘Mantyhose’— are available and very much alive in an animated membrane of painted screens.
