Christmas Bird Count.
Fundy National Park, in collaboration with the Fundy Guild, is hosting its 50th Annual Christmas Bird Count. On December 18th, birding enthusiasts of all ages are invited to celebrate this golden anniversary through “learn to bird” activities, lunch, and of course,
a50th anniversary cake.
To join the bird count, please register in advance by calling Jacques at 506-850-0412 or send an email to FundyVolunteer.BenevoleFundy@pc.gc.ca. Registration is open until Monday, December 14th.

Preparing to welcome refugees. 
When hearing the news of wars and disasters in distant countries, it’s easy to feel powerless – as though there is nothing we can do to help. Fortunately, many people in rural Albert County have found a way to make a difference for at least one family that has been displaced by war. Free trips to the grocery store.
Forest Dale Home in partnership with Tele-Drive Albert
Countyand Hillsborough Fresh Mart will be sponsoring free trips to the grocery store on Mondays.  Specific details on a start date are yet to be determined. Contact Tele-Drive @ 875-1190 or Forest Dale @ 882-3001  if this is of interest to you.. 

Shepody Food Bank in 2015.
Shepody Food Bank, located at the Albert County Health and Wellness Centre in Riverside-Albert, serves the catchment area from the Village of Alma up to and including the Upper Albert Mines Road, as established by the New Brunswick Association of Food Banks.  With the month of December yet to be figured in, to date the food bank has served 94 households comprising 224 individuals, for a total of over 28,000 meals in 2015. The food bank also sends send weekly food contributions to the Riverside Consolidated School for their breakfast and other meal programs.  Read the full story at http://www.connectingalbertcounty.org/local-food/shepody-food-bank-2015-milestones

Tue, Dec 15. Alma Village Playgroup
10 am - 12 pm. The Alma Village Playgroup will gather weekly at the lower level of the Alma Activity Centre. Everyone is welcome -- caregivers, grandparents, parents, babysitters -- get the kids together to be social beings in a playtime setting and the adults can visit and engage with each other. This is an important part of community life in a small village with a small population -- play, connect, visit, explore, let's pretend, distractions, stories, and snack. Tue, Dec 15. Healthy Lifestyle Club
6 pm - 7 pm. The Albert County Health & Wellness Centre (8 Forestdale Road, Riverside-Albert) will be the gathering place for a Healthy Lifestyle Club.  Meetings will be held in the lower level.  Special speakers, menu planning, stress management, activities, exercise, chronic conditions information, cooking etc. Contact Cynthia Stevens at 882-3100 or Cynthia.stevens@horizonnb.ca

Tue, Dec 15.  Christmas Concert at Riverside Consolidated School
7 pm - 9 pm. The Christmas concert at RCS, storm Date
Wednesday Dec. 16. The concert is held in the gym and features children from grades K-5. Come and enjoy the efforts of all in the school.

Tue, Dec 15.  Zumba - Riverside Albert

Wed, Dec 16. Storm Date for Christmas Concert at RCS
7 pm - 9 pm. The Christmas concert at RCS will be held
Tuesday Dec. 15, storm Date Wednesday Dec. 16. The concert is held in the gym and features children from grades K-5.

Thu, Dec 17. Free Community Playgroup in Hillsborough
9:30 am - 11:30 am. Free playgroup open to anyone caring for children 0-6 years old ... Moms, Dads, grandparents; caregivers. Community Outreach Playgroup provided by Early Childhood Family Resource Centre of Westmorland –Albert Inc. No advance registration required. It is a
drop in program and the calendar includes musical morning, active kids, crafts, reading, along with free play and an opportunity for caregivers to chat with others. Please bring indoor shoes and a healthy snack for yourself and your child(ren).  Please spread the word! You can follow playgroup planned activities at https://www.facebook.com/hillsboroughplaygroup

Fri, Dec 18. Chase the Ace
6 pm - 7:30 pm. Chase the Ace is in Riverside-Albert every Friday at the Fundy Curling Club. This is a joint effort of CCRC and the Fundy Curling Club to raise money for the ailing ice plant and for the preschool at Riverside Consolidated School. Please join us!  3 tickets for $5.00 for a chance to have your number drawn then a chance to draw the Ace of Spades! Each week the 50/50 winner gets 20% of the night's
donations, while 30% goes to the ACE pot. If the ace is not drawn, the 30% carries over from week to week.  How nice to get together with friends, and maybe play a few hands of cards while you wait for the number to be drawn. And you will be supporting 2 excellent community causes! So, mark your calendars for each Friday 6-7:30. Call if you have questions, 882-2573, 882-2960, 882-2626

Thu, Dec 31. New Years Eve Country Show, Hillsborough Kiwanis
7 pm - 10 pm. Hillsborough Kiwanis will be having a New Years Eve country show featuring the foot stomping country sounds of Heartland. Doors open at 6 PM, Show time 7 PM, Cost $10.00 at the door. Visit Hillsborough Kiwanis on Facebook.
