TELEFILM CANADA JOINS MATT JOHNSON, KAZIK RADWANSKI, INGRID VENINGER AND CAMERON BAILEY FOR THE INAUGURAL BREAKFAST AT TIFF
Breakfast at TIFF is a new initiative that aims to bring the Toronto screen industry together at TIFF Bell Lightbox. Each month you'll hear from provocative expert speakers on timely subjects. You'll have the chance to catch up over a light breakfast with colleagues, friends, and new acquaintances from the local film-production scene.

We're kicking off our 2016 Breakfast at TIFF season on Friday, June 3 with a topic that has truly captured interest and created debate: access to finances and film festivals.

In a recent interview with The Globe and Mail, Canadian filmmaker Matt Johnson(Operation AvalancheThe Dirties) said: "TIFF to me is such an intrinsic part of what's so skewed about the Canadian film Industry. You have a dozen filmmakers who, no matter what, are going to get funded by Telefilm and, no matter what are going to have their world premiere at the biggest festival in the world. You have a groove so deep-set for those filmmakers — filmmakers who are culturally irrelevant and have been for 15 years. They don't struggle. They just have to show up."

What is your view? Let's have that conversation!

Don't miss the inaugural Breakfast at TIFF session, where our panel of speakers will debate this subject. You'll hear further from Matt Johnson, filmmakersKazik Radwanski and Ingrid Veninger, a representative from Telefilm Canada, and moderator Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director, Toronto International Film Festival.
