Our Founder's Heart

Grace and Greetings Family,

Cheers to an Awesome Autumn!  As Americans gear up to let freedom ring, as loudly as possible at the election polls, I am resolved to believe that most of us are simply striving to create a place of world peace.  We want our voices to be heard.  We want justice and fairness.  We want opportunities and equalities.  We want to eradicate oppression.  We want evolution and progression.  We want true leadership and protection.  We want to silence the cries of brutalities.  We want to sing songs of racial harmonies.  We all just want to—MATTER.

Excited to splurge for the weekend, Joshua Jeremiah, rode calmly in the backseat eager to get to Nanny’s house.  Along the way, he began asking tons of questions about the Corona virus and tried, as best as an eight-year-old could, to comprehend the sum of it all.  Suddenly, a strange hush filled the air as we traveled the winding Georgia back roads.  I glanced into my rear view mirror and noticed Joshua’s innocent little face as tears welled and rolled down his flushed chubby cheeks.  “What’s wrong baby… why are you crying?” I was totally oblivious.  With the sincerest childlike response he blurted, “Nanny, I’m just afraid that Corona virus won’t ever go away!” For you see, this very moment made it evident that even the youngest citizens are feeling mentally and emotionally under attack.  Nevertheless, there is power in God’s peace that can soothe the very soul of every age, gender, race and human.

Out of the mouths of babes we can all learn the importance of letting our voices rise so that our hearts can be at rest.  If we dare to do our part in society, we can live with no regrets.  As we look and lean ahead to 2021, let us seek to first find peace within, in spite of what may be left behind.  We must continue to march on and press toward all that’s good and decent.  Be not dismayed, for truly there are many wolves on the way to grandma’s house.  But, if and when we find the narrow path that lights the way to serenity and reciprocity—it is our duty and responsibility to leave behind breadcrumbs of wisdom and empathy to help those struggling by the wayside find perfect peace, prosperity and divine destiny.

As always… lovingly and graciously yours,

Carolyn A. Watson

‘You Are Not Alone’ is the title of her first book released in 2014.  As 30 year old, Divina Wilson, continues to rise and shine, even beyond the confines of a two-year prison sentence as a convicted felon, she has truly turned her life around.  Raised by a single mother and a military father, who wasn’t always present in her life, she has used her story and many God-given talents to spread positive energy to her children and all who she comes in contact with.  Born and raised in Ocala, Florida, Divina’s knack for hairstyling, artistic ability, and skill as a certified web designer compelled her to broaden her horizons.  So, when she received an invitation from a friend to move to Macon, Georgia, to seek greater opportunities to thrive, she didn’t hesitate.

After arriving in Georgia, and moving in with a friend and her mom, things quickly took a turn for the worse.  Divina and her two adorable seven-year-old twins, Eden and Shar’nez, found themselves out in the cold.  “She just kicked us out—we had no choice but to go to a shelter,” she tearfully explained.  Divina was employed, but had no relatives in Georgia, accept her uncle.  They later moved in with him and resided there for one year.  During this time she focused on saving money to get a place of her own; and purchased a car from a neighbor for $300.  Life for Divina has been riddled with hardship. “The most devastating time in my life was losing my mother who died on Christmas morning in 2008, which turned my life up-side-down,” she shared.  “My birthday is January 2nd and I had my twins January 4th, so holidays are always a really rough time for me…” she continued.  However, through it all she desires to inspire other mothers not to give up on life or themselves.  “If someone doesn’t give you unconditional love, God will give it to you—He’ll show you who you are and help you understand that everything happens for a reason to prepare us for our future.”  Divina encourages.

Davina, has one adult daughter and twins that mean the world to her.  She is always striving to make life better for them.  Here at H.O.M.E. we can attest to this truth.  After hearing of our program, she rented a truck and traveled all the way from Macon to Atlanta to pickup furniture, beds and household necessities to furnish and decorate an otherwise empty apartment.  “Receiving furniture meant everything to me.  What H.O.M.E. did for my family wasn’t just financial—it was a real blessing.  It feels so good to lie in my bed.  If you put one foot in front of the other, God will do the rest.  I cried all the way home.”  With her closing words, we too, express our gratefulness to be a part of her journey to success.  Divina, for truly, You Are Not Alone!

'In Remembrance Of'
It is with our deepest condolences that The H.O.M.E. Team mourns the loss of our beloved sister, Ms. Sarah Jackson.  Sarah died while saving her youngest daughter from drowning on Labor Day.   Ms. Jackson was not only a client of Helping Oppressed Mothers Endure, Inc., but also received our honorable Spring 2017 'Pearl of the Quarter' award for her courage, commitment and fearless fortitude as a single mother. Ms. Jackson truly loved her beautiful daughters and worked tirelessly to ensure they were educated, happy and whole. Ms. Sarah Jackson will forever be a sweet memory in the hearts and minds of our staff, and our sincere prayers are with her children and family.

Until we meet again, our sister, on the other side of Heaven... O' what a JOY it was to know you and serve you!!
