"On Faith We Lean... in 2018!!"
It's been 17 years since I heard her sweet voice... but today her kindness and compassion still speaks through every single mother we've served.  On behalf of this beautiful gift of a mother I dedicate this Fall edition to her memory.  May your legacy of love live on. Rest in Eternal Peace!

Our Founder's Heart
Grace and Greetings to a Fruitful Fall!
Do you believe in the importance of self-care?  Every now and then I pause to reevaluate my life looking back on the distance I’ve come—and looking forward to the next milestone on the journey.  Depending on one’s perspective, when peering through the window of Father Time each of us will see the summation of our days as awfully bitter or abundantly blessed.  For this reason, self-care on a regular base is one way we see the benefits of a fruitful life without regret.  This is a powerful tool to avoid wasting fruitless effort trying to redeem the time with—“If I should of… could of… would of!”
There is an hourglass of opportunity that lends itself to each of us as we travel through time and space to fulfill our life’s purpose.  Even now, the sands of time are slowly passing through our hands, gently and steady, without many of us even noticing it.  Until one day we awaken to realize that time is no longer on our side having missed the many chances we were given to fully explore ourselves and reach the epitome of our mortal greatness.  If you are led to take this moment to weigh the balance of your days, what would you deem necessary to increase or decrease in your current situation?
To gain maximum prosperity for rich and abundant living is found and fueled by the best self-care that can ever be prescribed… “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”  This fall reminds me of another chance God has given each of us to fall away from ideals that are absorbed in our agenda only—with little concern for the needs of hurting and hopeless hearts of others.  You see, self-care must first be initiated by you, for you, to function healthy.  And then you will be compelled to offer the greatest good to others out of an overflow of love for yourself.
In closing, I leave you to ponder this quote… “You cannot pour from an empty cup… You must fill your cup first.”
Lovingly and graciously,
Carolyn A. Watson
Pearl of the Quarter
Barbara Parker is truly a woman of amazing strength and courage.  And if you’re not already a, Believer, her inspiring story will encourage you to see the true power of God’s healing, deliverance and protection.  Born and raised in metro Atlanta, Barbara’s life has been far from easy.  She’s seen her share of tough days, but continues to persevere.  Barbara was an only child who grew up in a dysfunctional home.  She was physically and sexually abused as a child, experimented with drugs and alcohol in her pre-teens, and dropped out of school, married and was pregnant by the tender age of thirteen—sadly the infant passed away in her arms.  A short time after this pregnancy she gave birth to a second child who was given up for adoption; and later a third and fourth child who were born drug addicted.
After losing her children, this pain and agony caused Barbara to lose hope and her life began to spiral downward into a cycle of destructive behavior.  Adult entertainment, prostitution, drugs, sexual assaults and recurring arrests were her norm.  She was in and out of detox facilities and jail, until finally she was arrested and mandated to go into rehab—which ultimately saved her life along with the birth of precious little, Jordan, her adorable three-year-old daughter.  After years of being broken, in despair and constantly on the run, Barbara buckled down and went back to school to get her GED, she also obtained an Associate Degree (with a 4.0 GPA), and eventually gained custody of her children.  While there were indeed setbacks along the way, Barbara pressed her way to freedom with the help of others.  Today, she is a wonderful mother, hard worker and an inspirational speaker dedicated to using her story to change lives.  She teaches classes on weekends and is often asked to tell her story in courtrooms to motivate other women to get on the right track.
When we met this beautiful spirit we found Barbara to be one of H.O.M.E.’s greatest supporters before she was even approved for the program herself.  Because of her, many donors and clients have contacted H.O.M.E.  She continues to strive for greatness in every area of her redirected life.  Since November 2015, Barbara has been clean and sober; healthy and whole—and there’s no turning back!
