Gravitec Systems has seen fall protection evolve from workers using waist belts and ropes to full body harnesses and energy absorbing lanyards. Over the last 30 years we have added engineers, trainers, technicians, writers, and graphic artists to our staff and expanded to almost 60 full-time employees. We made the move to Washington State and established North America’s finest fall protection training facility. We have grown alongside the fall protection industry and look forward to another 30 years of protecting workers at height and the innovations it will bring. PROJECT PROFILE: GOVERNOR'S MANSION
This past year Gravitec was both honored and thrilled to be involved in the fall protection maintenance of the beautiful Georgian style mansion that has been home to every Washington state governor since 1909. The Latchways Constant Force Post System was chosen for the mansion's flat roofs for its low profile, its energy absorption properties, and the fact it does not require invasive modification, which is key for the preservation of such an important and historical landmark.

3M Fall Protection (formerly Capital Safety) has identified a production issue with its Zorbit Energy Absorbers that creates a risk of serious injury or death for a user in the event of a fall from height. Although there have been no reported accidents or injuries associated with this issue, 3M Fall Protection is voluntarily recalling a limited lot range of this product and will replace affected energy absorbers free of charge.Consult the official Product Recall Notice for more details.

OSHA Wants Input on Shipyard Fall Protection Rules
Falls are the leading cause of shipyard fatalities, according to OSHA, which states that 40 percent of all fatal incidents in shipyard employment from 1992 to 2014 resulted from falls to a lower level, citing BLS data. The current standards haven't been updated since 1971. The Request lists three reasons why the agency wants to update this section of its regulations. Read More
